No more sound sound

I don't really know what I'm doing so I was hoping some of you who know much more than I do, would be able to help me out with a problem I'm having.

I just moved my computer to a new case and I finally got everything set up so that it runs. However, I formatted and installed Windows on a new hard drive and even after installing all my drivers (I think) I still can't get any sound. Neither my speakers nor headphones will emit any sound, the volume is up and the mute is off. I'm pretty sure I should have Realtek 97 Audio and after installing the driver for it that's what was detected and reinstalled.

Under my audio properties it even tells me that "this device is working properly". My question is if it's working properly then why doesn't it work? I've fiddled around with the BIOS settings but nothing seems to work. My sound was working just fine a few days ago before I moved everything and I can't think of anything else I may have missed.

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read this. Any tips would be great.

What motherboard do you have? How many audio jacks are on the back of the motherboard?

Well I bought my computer originally as an hp so I'm not sure but I believe my motherboard is an ATX, model ASUS P4SD-LA. I have three audio jacks; audio in, audio out and microphone.

I hope that's what you were asking for.

Actually a friend of mine just told me that this is because my motherboard is supposed to have drivers. Is this the case? If so then I have no idea where they are. Would I be better off just buying a sound card?

You need to install the motherboard's chipset drivers first thing after installing Windows. Go to the mmobo manufacturer's website and download them if you don't have the CD.
