Who seriously watches a movie a day?

You, apparently?

I drive past a hollywood video on the way to/from work. We have 2 out unlimited for something like $15.

We changed from netflix when we got tagged as "heavy" users and it went from 2-3 days mailbox to mailbox to 5-7 days.

No change listed here, $23.99 for 4 x Unlimited.

Had me worried there for a minute.

It's so damn funny. Some threads here in OT are not asking for advice. This one for example.

Yet that's the first thing posted.

So, even with this change you still get more movies with BB. And why would you use Netflix then, other than if you are close to a shipping outlet.

I just got an email from netflix, they lowered their rates

Im on the el-cheapo $10 a month 1 out-at-a-time plan anyway, but they lowered it to $9. Not sure how much the others went down.

It's funny how Netflix lowers their price to compete better and BB, in return, raises their price.

That's because Mr. Carl Icahn wants his money. That means that he wants fewer freebies for online and more revenue through B&M. That's why the BBI CEO got sacked, Icahn and others couldn't take the massive push to online, they see the B&M business as their cashcow and want to ride it to the ground.

So, tonight I take my watched online rental in its mailer to the local Blockbuster to exchange it for The Zodiac, and the pimple faced teenager asks me for the rental fee. I'm like I am exchanging an online rental in store, to which he responds "You are only allowed 3 in store exchanges on your plan, BB changed their policy." When I asked when they changed it, he said "Today"

I go online and check, and sure enough there are now new "Premier" options for plans with unlimited in store exchanges. At $7 more per plan I might add!

Anyway, im dissapointed in BB for not emailing their customers about this change. They obvioulsy have everyone's email address from signup, why not let us know and give us some advance notice???

The clerk let me rent my movie today for free as a courtesy, but this has me annoyed.

Cliffs:
Went to BB to exchange online rental
Was told the rules changed and they are limited to 3/month now
BB sucks

i got an email about it, and it said that they're keeping me on the unlimited plan cause i'm a "prefered customer". that probably just means that i get like 1 movie a month but still pay $17.99.... why do i do that?

I could but Netflix is too slow with their shipping. I had NF up until March of this year and then I switched. So its either use BB or download movies illegally.

Hm.. I didn't get an email from BB. I guess maybe they're going to screw me because I'm still on my 4 week free trial. I use the free in-store rentals with every movie I get online. I've seen probably 20 disks in the past 2-3 weeks.

I have been a long time Netflix subscriber and love it. So what if I have to wait 2 days for the movies to come. My brother joined BB. They don't have that many movies like Netflix.
The whole point of joining online rental is that it comes right into you mail box. Why waste gas and drive to BB to get the movies. My driving to video store was over years ago.
I think the reason they did that is to get more subscriber and they did signed up quite a few and now they're pissing all of them off.

BB is a way better value than NetFlix. My closest BB is on the way to work. I stop by after work or during lunch and pick up my 3 free rentals probably twice a week. That's at least 12 movies a week I can watch, plus a free game rental each month.

Netflix has just lower their price
for a dollar. If the store is not out of your way and you have plenty of time to kill then it's working out for you. For me I just hate to drive to the store and deal with standing inline and deal with the clerk.
With netflix I get 6 movies a week. that's more than enough for me.
If I return the movies on Monday they usually receive them in on Tuesday and send out my movies on tuesday and I usually get them by Wednesday.

Their watch online feature is not that bad either but you have to watch it on your PC screen unless you have it hooked up to your TV. Picture quality is way better than VHS quality.
Plus in CT we have a Kios at alot of Supermarket call Redbox where you can get it for a dollar a day, that's not bad either if you want a movie in a hurry.

You can't use netflix's watch now feature through tv out anymore. You can try it but you will start getting a static screen every few seconds.

I tried to do it once from my laptop to TV but haven't tried it since.
I read somewhere that Netflix is working on somekind of boxes that will download the movies to the hard drive (usually at night time) and you can watch it on your TV.
that would be cool I hope it's in either Hi-def or at least DVD quality. I would try it. If it's less than that I won't even bother.

We have introduced a new pricing structure for our lineup of subscription plans.

As a result, the price of your current monthly plan Unlimited DVDs up to 3 at a time with unlimited in-store exchanges each month for $17.99 will increase to $24.99, effective August 1, 2007.

We will not automatically renew your subscription on your next billing date.
I bet they're canning me because I get my money's worth out of their DVD's. Someone else posted here saying they're considered a "premium" customer and thus got to keep their plan - guess I'm not a "premium" customer.

Not sure what I'm going to do. I don't appreciate them not applying the policy uniformly - if everyone had to change, fine pay or leave. But some are exempt? Farkin' a$$holes. I love the plan and the in-store option, plus the people at our local store are nice. I don't want Netflix & their throttling. I'm going to call and bitch - if they don't grandfather my rate, I dunno what I'll do. Decisions decisions
