No more unlimited in-store exchanges at Blockbuster

I'm on the 13.99 2-at-a-time unlimited rental plan which allows movies to be exchanged for free at any local store

So, tonight I take my watched online rental in its mailer to the local Blockbuster to exchange it for The Zodiac, and the pimple faced teenager asks me for the rental fee. I'm like I am exchanging an online rental in store, to which he responds "You are only allowed 3 in store exchanges on your plan, BB changed their policy." When I asked when they changed it, he said "Today"

I go online and check, and sure enough there are now new "Premier" options for plans with unlimited in store exchanges. At $7 more per plan I might add!

Anyway, im dissapointed in BB for not emailing their customers about this change. They obvioulsy have everyone's email address from signup, why not let us know and give us some advance notice???

The clerk let me rent my movie today for free as a courtesy, but this has me annoyed.

Cliffs:
Went to BB to exchange online rental
Was told the rules changed and they are limited to 3/month now
BB sucks

I was actually wondering how long the unlimited exchanges were going to last. It seemed like a money-losing proposition from the word 'go'.

edit: I'm on the $17.99/month plan - 3 at a time, unlimited in-store exchanges + 2 Free movie/game-rental coupons. Just checked my account and there has been no changes.

edit2: But, I see when I click on 'change plan' that they are limiting the number of in-store exchanges now. Guess they realized that an all you can eat buffet isn't exactly profitable.

I could but Netflix is too slow with their shipping. I had NF up until March of this year and then I switched. So its either use BB or download movies illegally.

Bastards!

I was a huge fan of this program. I selected TV-shows or movies that could not be found in-store than got new releases from the stores.

Totally sucks now!

$24.99 is the new price for unlimited in-store exchange.

21.99 if you choose the 2 out at a time option

Which is exactly what I did.
I only used them for a little while because they were right next to my house. But I finally dumped them.
They charge too much.
They have a rotten selection.
They change policies all the time (and usually to the dismay of the consumer).
Hollywood is cheaper and had a LOT more variety.

Dammit.. I was thinking on swtiching from NF for the in-store returns. I was getting a lot of TV shows anyways, so if the store doesn't have those, and now they stopped the unlimited at $17.99, I'll stick with NF.

NF has a shipping hub in my city, so the delivery is usually lightning fast.

I actually got an e-mail regarding this today. Seems if you are already a subscriber nothing will change for now:

As a preferred customer, your plan will not change at this time. Please continue to enjoy your exclusive subscription plan, including no monthly limit on free* movie rentals or discounted game rentals when you exchange in-store, at today's price ? far below the published rate available to new subscribers.

Wonder how long this will last? I for one use the free in store exchange constantly.

My birthday present was 3-at-a-time netflix unlmited and I was very happy. I live in Bangor, they have a place in Portland, lightning, lightning turn around, day to get there, day to me, very fast.

BB just ran the whole unlimited in store switch commercial chain before this happened...bait and switch anybody?

I was this close to signing up with them earlier this week. This blows that idea out of the water.

It's funny how Netflix lowers their price to compete better and BB, in return, raises their price.

I got a one month free trial through BB a little while ago (one of those four at a time deals). With the free exchanges I was getting AT LEAST a new movie a day. I actually ran out of stuff I wanted to see before my trial was up.

Who seriously watches a movie a day?
