To be fair - I could not STAND Leo after Titanic, could not imagine him taking on serious roles.
And in fact, it did typecast him a bit at the start, probably made it a little bit of a challenge to get respectable roles.

He turned out to be able to nail some damn good roles in time.

I haven't seen anything Twilight, and honestly haven't seen *anything* any of the three lead actors have been in.
It's work and money, and actors aren't always exactly fond of material - and in this case, I think all of the actors/actresses despised the whole rabid following. At least Harry Potter was a nerdy following of sorts - the Twilight following was just depressing from all angles.

They could use the original Short Round! He is grown up. Jonathan Ke Quan! Looks like his last job was in 2009, but last acting job was in 2002. I'm sure he is poor by now and would do it, regardless of George Lucas' involvement.
