I gave my dog a nice steak after I had sex with it. 404: Animal abuse not found.
Because it's actually more horrifying that we treated the slaves well because it meant we knew what we were doing. It wasn't just some overlooked contractor situation where the government could claim plausible deniability, we not only used slaves but we treated them 'well' because they were seen as U.S. property and thus doing so was a protection of our "investment."
People need to know that instead of like picture 1 below, it was more like picture 2. There's no excuse for either, but there's also no getting around the the implicit knowledge that what you're doing is wrong. The U.S. government didn't use slaves to build the White House because we conquered some other people, we did it to save a few bucks and completely ignored the morality that was telling us it was wrong.
If where she lives is such a problem to her why doesn't Michelle Obama move out of the presidential palace?
If where she lives is such a problem to her why hasn't Michelle Obama moved out of the presidential palace?
Must not be too big of a problem for her.

Yeah, if she has a problem with slavery she shouldn't live there...
Fuck it, I was trying to parody you, but I just ended up saying the exact same thing.
Please stop. Plenty of slaves were beaten or do you think they stayed around for the good food?
I'll give it a whirl:
"If you don't celebrate our rich history of slavery, you aren't a true American worthy of living in the White House."
He was citing historical facts ffs. I'm really having a lot of trouble getting worked up over this one. But the storm of outrage is awesome to behold!

Want to see the reason why so many people support Trump for reasons of 'he speaks his mind'? It's the type of comment I just quoted. People get a bit tired of having to make a sufficiently vehement ritual declaration of the horrors of something when they discuss it. It's not enough to simply say "yeah slavery was terrible," you have to denounce it as one of the biggest evils of history. You can't just say "yeah cops beating people is bad," you need to make a declaration about how the nation is irredeemably racist. Ditto for any subject where some pet group is in play - you can't just state your opinion, it needs to be sufficiently bracketed by the correct apologetics and you can't skimp on the quantity, you need to pile it on like an old person at a buffet.
Shocking that it would sail right over your head, just shocking. He was citing historical facts ffs. I'm really having a lot of trouble getting worked up over this one. But the storm of outrage is awesome to behold!

No, you just have to stop whitewashing history if you don't want to be called a racist. Is that so difficult to ask?Want to see the reason why so many people support Trump for reasons of 'he speaks his mind'? It's the type of comment I just quoted. What do you mean by that? Are you capable of some honesty here? Or are you just going to run away and continue screaming "dog whistle" at every fn little thing you imagine to be offensive for the rest of your life? Why does this forum attract people like you and Glenn?
Capt Who Me? asking about honesty, that's ironic. Are you capable of some honesty here?

Yeah, I'm glad we agree. People support Trump because racists can speak to their racist delusions without facts to back it up and without feeling bad about it. Thanks for clarifying that.
And as to your previous post. You were factually inaccurate. Slaves were beaten, raped and killed. It wasn't the utopia that you have envision it to be.

Do I need to comment on this or is it fucked up enough to stand on its own merit? I'll start the discussion just in case:
How does this guy still have his job? How is a comment like this not enough for immediate dismissal? Oh that's right, Fox News is a haven for wildly racist pundits.
She uses the story as a demonstration of how far the country has come in 200 years. Then people like O'Reilly use it as a way to claim she is divisive by saying it wasn't all slaves or it wasn't so bad for the slaves.
Get the problem now?
