Also... 23 bands. Up from 16 last year and 11 the previous year?

I really hope the next Android phones are truly global capable. That's you Nexus. Come on.

The iPad Pro is a reactionary product unfortunately, but let's see where they take this. The split window implementation could trickle down into the regular iPads next year and perhaps the larger iPhone too.

Doesn't the Air 2 already do split window? Won't see it in any earlier iPad because of a lack of RAM.

Apple Watch. I really didn't pay much attention, I think just some new wrist bands. I really don't like watches.

iPad Pro. Probably the most exciting and most disappointing at the same time. Great tablet, but not $800+ great.

iPad Mini 4, is an Air 2 in a smaller form factor. Looks nice.

No new iPad Air though, sad.

Apple TV looks cool. At first I wasn't too excited since most of the features are things I already can do on my Fire TV. But when they mentioned the remote can control my TV and receiver and switch inputs automatically, that got me very interested. So this is a potential buy.

iPhone 6S is what I expected. A nice bump, but nothing exciting. The 3D touch seems gimmicky to me, but I might change my mind when I try it in person. Seems like tap and hold and pinch to zoom do the same thing on non-3D touch displays. We'll see. I like the camera improvements. But I have a 6 Plus and don't feel the urge to upgrade it.

I watched the engadget liveblog, and the force touch didn't come across to me. They kept saying long press, and I was thinking I can already do that.

I'm still going to withhold judgment until the phone is out in the wild and I get a better idea of what it's capable of.

It seems to me that the granularity required to think about how much pressure I'm using will be more trouble than it's worth when I can just hold instead.

I bet it'll be interesting for games though. And maybe your phone could function as a scale?

the Pencil can be recharged by sticking it into the lighting port....
who was the genius that came up with this idea??? the best time to recharge the pen is not in use, when it's tucked away in a bag. which you cant do as of now. wow

So this is the only thing I want the 6S for as it'll help with my T-Mobile reception in So Cal, but really 16GB standard?

iPad Pro looks very awesome. But $800 for 32GB and $950 for 128GB just seem too expensive. And $100 for the "pencil" is nuts. Keyboard is too expensive at $170, but Microsoft has already gotten me used to paying too much for a keyboard.

The Pro doesn't make sense to me. If you want to go into Surface Pro territory, you should go i3/i5 territory and run OSX on it.

Pro is going to be the first bomb I think. Why would anyone want one? If it had OSX maybe. Surface is far better. I currently have a Macbook Pro and the side by side window would be clutch on it. Wish they had that in OSX...

Iphone and TV were fairly boring as well. Slight bumps but nothing to make me upgrade from my ATV3 and 6 Plus.

Between the $100 pencil, the $170 keyboard and the 6S shipping 16GB standard it starts to feel like Apple is exceeding their almost universal reputation for excessively high prices.

The 16GB in particular is really frustrating. I don't know what Apple's bill-of-materials (BOM) cost is for 16GB of flash memory, but it has to be a couple of dollars. I'd estimate that it's about $3 added BOM cost to turn the base 6S into a 32GB product. Meanwhile they have a phone that shipped from Apple, probably will have less than 12GB of usable space due to iOS9. So you get 12GB of usable space which translates to less than 20 minutes recording time on their new 4K camera they just announced. Or you can pay $100 more to get $3 worth of memory.

I find the whole thing very irritating and I can't imagine that I'm the only one who thinks it's ridiculous to ship a 4K camera-equipped phone armed with 16GB of storage.

I find it irritating as well. Mem is pretty dirt cheap. I can only fathom apple is waiting for the iphone 7 to introduce 32GB as a starting point.

I think it should be outlawed in the US to sell a phone or tablet with less than 32gb of memory, unless that phone costs less than $200, off contract.

getting some android features like quick gestures and always on 'Ok Google', I mean 'Hey Siri'

the camera probably will kick ass though.

Looks like they're skipping the 32gb this time. So its $100 more to jump to 64gb, which is pretty much a necessity at this point.

Still not OIS in the 6s regular though. Looks like it'll just be the Plus that will have a top-notch camera.

Yeah, you are right. So it should be "paying $100 to get $6 more memory" (if you figure 64GB of RAM costs Apple $6, which, if anything, seems high).

any of you guys go to an Apple Store today? What was it like in terms of crowds or people buying?

Nothing they announced today will be available for a while. It will be interesting to see if there are lines for the 6S. I wouldn't think there would be... but somehow people always surprise me every year by lining up regardless of how ridiculous I think it is.

I do not see the purpose of the ipad pro as of 2015, for most consumers. In winter 2016 or spring summer 2017 it may be different. Notice the keywords most, and consumer.

Current very little software is ready for stylus input and this will also be true for the next year or so. Now there are some exceptions to this like microsoft office with one note and some of the adobe programs but besides that you just have a bigger ipad.

Given time though the Ipad Pro will be amazing but it takes time for developers to actually make software or to add features.

Yet the ipad pro cost $900 to $1100. $800 for tablet, $100 for pencil/stylus, $170 for the keyboard (which looks horrible to type on, but we will see) and even more if 32 storage is not enough for you, or you want lte.

---

All to run ipad apps in a bigger form factor. Eventually lots of stylus/pencil apps will appear but since it is going to take 12 months or so, why don't you wait for the massive improved ipad pro 2 or 3, since you will barely being able to use your stylus today.

Ipad Air 2 can also do split screen, and is extremely fast for a tablet cost $500, is it really worth it to get the ipad pro in 2015 for $400 to $600 more? Especially when the silicon is advancing so much in a year's time with the apple products?
