Hey Guys,
I'll try to make a long story short. I sold a T-bird 1.333/266 and a Asus A7V133 with 256mb Crucial ram all mounted in a case to a friend on mine. He received the system and installed the rest of his stuff and everything was fine for a few weeks. He went to replace the stock AMD heatsink fan with a Swiftech cooler. He told me he had a really hard time getting the AMD unit off and actually broke one of the tabs off on the socket. After getting everything back together his system would not even boot into the bios. He tried everything under the sun and no boot. I tried sending him my old 1.4/266 that was in the garage but that would not boot either. So he sent both chips back to me and neither one will boot in my old A7V133 system. I turn it on and everything powers up no beeps or anything and it just sits there and the monitor comes up with the "no signal" screen and then goes into standby mode. I've tried various video cards reset everything over and over double checked everything. Still same results. So do you think the chips are toast? Do you think his prying on the board enough to break off a tab damaged it enough to fry any chip that gets put in it. He said he will replace my chip and that is no big deal but I wanted to get some thoughts on this. Thanks for any advice.
