No Southbridge Heatsink necessary? Intel H61

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 620 desktop, with the H61 Intel chipset based Motherboard. I noticed that there is NO heatsink or cooler for the southbridge chip!!

Doing a Google search shows that others have had this problem in July 2011. The fact that they are still building the 620 without a cooler on the Southbridge suggests this is OK, but I want to know from others if this is acceptable.

Is there a benchmark tool that I can use to stress the Southbridge and see if I can overheat it? I think I can still return the computer to Dell, since I just received it today.

well intel for the chips gives a max tdp of 6.1 watt
so the reall question is how many watt a chip can consume
and you do no need any cooling at it for a temp lets says less than 45-50 celsius??

OEM's cutting corners as usual to help keep costs down. Most likely an ECS Board.

Sad as there Black line of Boards are quite unappreciated for value.

It's probably as bad as RAM that doesn't have heatspreaders.

Well, the RAM doesn't have heat spreaders, they're 2 sticks of 2GB DDR3 1333 according to the BIOS.

I have an ECS Black Edition motherboard for my gaming rig (Phenom II X3 720) and I thought that was a decent board. It came with copper heatsinks for the north and southbridges.

what corner they cut
you buy the mobo
chipset get high temperature
you have to install a chipset cooler
if there are no holes then it will make things so interesting to install it
and then you will
say never again a product from that company?!?!?!?
the thing is not for a comapny to save a few dollars out of a product is to make a relaible product
unless they plan to seel that mobo in the north pole or something with ambient -10 all year long??!?!
