No VGA detected but tried several cards.

So here is my system before I explain the problem:

Motherboard: P7P55D-E PRO

CPU: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Q

PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready

Memory: CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3

VGA: XFX HD-585X-ZNFV Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 P
Or Nvidia 8800 GTS to test out the card.

Now the problem that I am facing is that recently my computer crashed and hasn't posted since. Now whenever I try to turn it back on the beeps are as followed "One long beep, three short, a pause, and another short beep." From the One long and three short I immediately thought it was the video card and decided to test out my other card. When I placed my 8800GTS into the system the post remained the same. Now I am faced to assume that the problem is the motherboard. Does anyone know what these beeps are? Also, is it possible that the motherboard PCI-e slots blew out? I've tried both of the slots and both proceed to give the same beeps.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend googling to see what those beeps mean.

If you can't figure out what they mean, I'd unplug all unnecessary equipment (dvd player, any extra hard drives, take out any unnecessary expansion cards, etc..).

I'd also remove all sticks of ram except 1 and reset your cmos/bios by setting its jumper on your motherboard. If that still doesn't work, swap out the stick of ram with one of the other ones you took out.

If that still doesn't fix it, it's probably the motherboard.

Well I looked in the motherboard manual and the only beeps that are in there are 1 long three short which means VGA is not detected. Yet, mine are 1 long 3 short a pause and 1 short. These sounds aren't anywhere for this motherboard. I've tried ram one at a time but I also ran a memtest86+ a day before the system crashed because PC was running slow and it showed that they were fine. I am currently running what I have on that list above but could this also be a PSU issue? Any way I can find out if the PSU is underpowered or dead? Could a motherboard die locally because people on other forums told me if it was the motherboard then it wouldn't cycle through CPU and memory led's before reaching VGA.

Yeah, it could also be the PSU, but the last time I saw a PSU die, it caused the motherboard to not even emit beeps and caused the fans to stop spinning, but that one could have failed differently than yours, so who knows.

The easiest way to check for the PSU is to just put a spare one into the system or buy a new one, put it in, and try it. If it doesn't fix it, you can probably still return it to the store. Just keep everything in new looking condition.

As for the other people telling you it's not the motherboard, I don't see how they can say that because the motherboard affects the entire system and will behave differently depending on what part of it got messed up. Basically if it's your motherboard, you can't trust anything it's telling you.

I used to have your exact same motherboard, and it had LED lights that were spread out all over the motherboard. If there was an error, it was supposed to light up the part of your system that's messed up. For example, if the ram was messed up, you'd see a light near the ram.

Have you checked to see if any LEDs are coming on and where they are located?

I am going to buy a PSU tomorrow at best buy but the light that lights up at the end is VGA led and it stays on, but like I've said I've tried both of the cards in another system and they both work but when inside this system they fail to post. This is what made me think it was the motherboard.

Also 1 long and four short on my board manual says its hardware component failure. What does that mean? Are components all the extremities of the system or is it the motherboard?

It sounds like "hardware component failure" means something you've added to the system, like a video card, but I'm not sure.

Since you tried 2 video cards and the light is near the VGA, it seems like your motherboard is just telling you bogus stuff and is defective. Like I said, you can't trust a defective motherboard.

I'd still try the PSU just to be sure, since it's a lot easier to test, but I have a feeling it's the motherboard.

Um...this is going to sound stupid...but is the Video Card plugged into the PSU? The ONLY reason I mention this is because it happened to me once...what a NOOB move on my part
