I am a first time builder. I am trying to get my machine to post, but I cannot seem to send a signal to my monitor.
I have not hooked up any of the front controls of the case to the motherboard.
Here is what I did. I seated the CPU, added the grease, sink and fan. The fan is plugged in. I added the 6800gt graphics cards. I tried to start it and nothing happened. I read on another string about clearing CMOS so I did that and the case fans, video fan and cpu fan now come on. However, I still get no signal towards the monitor.
I hooked up the D bracket and all the lights are off except top right, which suggest memory issues. However, this is brand new ram, 2 x 512 and I have rotated the the pair, tried one at a time, in each slot, etc...no change.
I hooked up the floppy, one cd and on harddrive. Still no change, the fans come on, the light on the cd flashes a few times but the video will not wake up and send a signal to the monitor.
I put in an alternate video card and no change in result. I know the monitor works since I am using that monitor now, just plugged into another machine.
Your thoughts????? Thanks
