Hey guys,
So I'm having a strange situation that I've never seen before.
For reference, this is happening on my main rig (see below for full spec).
Basically, when I'm in Windows, I'm rock solid. I can run for two weeks at a time without realizing it or even considering a reboot. Except when updating drivers, doing windows updates, or (un)installing software I almost never reboot. That part is awesome, I have no complaints. Windows 7 FTW.
The problem is, when I DO reboot, I usually have a very strange issue. regardless of whether I do a reboot, shutdown, wait, power up or whatever.
Here's the problem:
When I boot the damn thing up, I get no video. The system POSTs just fine and boots windows (I hear audio as Windows loads). However, none of it gets any video, POST included!
I can always make it work by doing some combination of the following:
1) Swapping DVI ports
2) Full shutdown, switch off PSU, wait awhile, turn back on
3) While off, hold power button for ~10 seconds, release, then turn on normally. This is the same technique I can use when the system won't POST at all.
Regardless, it's getting really irritating
I'm thinking it has to be my video card. I occasionally have an issue where my display goes black for about 2 seconds while in Windows. It happens on the desktop, when gaming, totally at random.
These two issues taken together seem more than a coincidence. I don't have any other PCie cards to test with, sadly.... I've been thinking about getting a new GPU, but I don't really NEED better performance for anything
Thoughts?
