I have this strange problem after putting my system together. When first turn on the computer, I have no video or signal going to the monitor. If I hit the reset button, the system reboots then everything is working as normal. Eleven hours later, I come home from work and power the computer on and the same thing happens again. Here is the spec: P4C800E board, P4 2.8C, Kingston HyperX3500K2/512, MSI Ti4200 VTD8X video card, WD 40JB HD and HP dvd200i burner. BIOS settings are default, not overclocked. Timing delay for HD is default at 35 seconds. I lowered it to 20, 25 to see if it changes anything but did not resolve the issue. Thanks.

cold boot problems can be caused by a powersupply thats not quite up to the job

what powersupply are you using? and what are its specs?

Hi Boonesmi. I have the Enermax 365-watt power supply. Do you think it's the source of the problem? But once I hit the reset button then it works normally until I power it on the next time. So far, I only have a video card, a floppy drive, a hard drive and a dvd burner which I think do not used up all the juice from the power supply. Thanks.

have you tried flashing to the newest bios?

your enermax should be fine (unless its defective)

Yes. I did flash the BIOS to v1009. I think there is a v10 Beta available on the web and haven't tried it. Originally the board came with bios v1007. I will try to swap with another video card tonight and will see what will happen. Thanks.

its very unlikey that the video card is the problem

cold boot problems (like what you describe... where it wont post when you first power it on, but hitting the reset switch will get it to post)
is usually a motherboard or bios, or powersupply issue

did it have the same problem with bios 1007?

if so you may want to try another powersupply (if you have one handy)

I flashed the bios back to 1007 and experienced the same issue this morning when i turn on my pc again. I did not realize about this problem after setting up my pc. I thought it is related to the ram timing issue what I was working at the time. I don't have a spare power supply and hate to buy one with a higher wattage and it turns out not to resolve the problem. I did set hard drive detection timing down to 10 sec in the bios as well. Anyone else has this problem ? Thanks.
