Wow the writing is terrible. And the ad placement is downright laughable. That scene where Skully was starting to drive and the car stops suddenly because some kid walks in front of her car, and her and Mulder are just looking at the camera dashboard as if to say "glad it has this option"....was freakin embarrassing. I could get past it if the story wasn't all over the place and the actors looked like they weren't just mailing it in for a paycheck

the japanese engineer guy in the first episode was in a time travel xfiles episode

Forgot about Tyrol. He's actually had a pretty successful career since BSG: lead on a cop show, supporting on The Killing, bunch of other guest spots... but he's let himself go a bit.

The Japanese guy, think he's Chinese in real-life, is in everything -- easy to spot due to relatively low number of Asian actors on American TV.

Don't you ruin this for me internet nerd. I just got done watching the first episode and I like it. Now I'm starting the second and it has that campy vibe to it that takes me back to 1994.

It's actually worse than Heroes Reborn, and I have up on that show a long time ago.

Huh, I feel the opposite. Episode 2 to me felt like a traditional X files episode. The plot could have easily been from season 1-4. But, I am curious where they are going? This episode had nothing to do with episode 1. I thought they were doing a 6 part miniseries with one story arc. Maybe they're doing a more traditional x-files approach by having a story arc, but diversion episodes along the way.

Yes, the two episodes were complete different, but at least the first episode was new stuff. New stuff with bad writing I'll admit, but new stuff nonetheless.

The 2nd episode felt like an old style X-Files episode, but with phoned-in performances, and even worse writing, esp. with those stupid flashbacks.

They're pretty good, just not so much in X-Files.

For example, look at Gillian Anderson in Hannibal or The Fall.

I can't deny that the acting just seems 'off'. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly. But you have to consider that they are resurrecting roles that they haven't really played since 2008(ish) for that crappy movie and then 2001 when the last season was filmed. And to be fair; Nether of them have had to portray their roles on a regular basis since 1999.

There are moments when I'll see the Mulder and Scully that I remember, but they are brief.
I feel like it will get better toward the end, but in any case they probably should have prepared themselves more before filming.

Scully's acting is ok, but Mulder's acting seems entirely deadpan. At the scene at the house in the first episode when they were arguing it was extremely obvious and very bad.

I enjoyed teh first episode last night on hulu. I'll probably have to watch again to cement the plot firmly in my mind.

Hope this show doesn't stoke paranoia/fear the way other shows convinced people of a zombie threat.

Yeah, the second episode felt like X-Files, but I still find myself drifting off and doing other things like half way through. I'm not even sure what really happened. Maybe I dont remember what happened in the mythology episodes so when they go into it I tune out.

He says the girl is key to it - yet when Scully says she does not have Alien DNA, it's unclear how that affects his theory and he doesn't say anything.

The plot device where her 're-test' apparently gets a different result is just ridiculous.

They had Moulder make a long rant rattling off random things like the Patriot Act to explain his theory and left his theory very unclear.

That last movie was terrible about a pet peeve - the absurd 'just in time' plot device.

Like when the bad guys had Moulder and the bad guy took his time sharpening the axe and was just swinging it when the good guy showed up and saved Moulder.

Or when the woman was about to have her head cut off and the knife had made the first cut when the good guy showed up.

Terrible writing.

I thought the retest was because she assumed big brother was watching and would fake the results so she redid it with a different name or something to get real results.

Either that or she didn't believe the initial results and then lied about it later.


Scully clearly saw something she didn't like in that scene, I think some people are just being too nitpicky having their minds set to criticize something for the sake of criticizing it.
