It's not there, there was a book I read a few years ago that talked about where it really would be, supposedly in Iraq somewhere. Wish I could remember the name of the book now though

interesting. if this is truly a wooden ship on top of a 15K foot mountain and carbon dating puts the wood back to Noa's time, i will definatly be rethinking my religious views.

I wouldn't. Even if the thing turns out to be a boat (unlikely), it doesn't prove that the story as told in the Bible is true.

8:4 And in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the foothills of Ararat.

i will because its pretty damn hard to explain how a a 450 foot wooden ship is perched on a 15K mountain.

I don't understand why the government of Turkey won't just let archeologists go up there and see this once and for all. There's either something there or there isn't, pretty simple really.
Are they still concerned that they might be spies from the CIA or something stupid like that? just get it over with.

I've lost a bit of respect for space.com...
Given that length, Taylor pointed out, the anomaly dwarfs the Titanic and Bismarck in size, and equals the size of the largest modern aircraft carrier. That analysis would seem to call into question whether the anomaly is a wooden ship and raises a key question: If a boat were truly that huge, would it float?
Maybe the writer of that article might want to travel back in time and ask Archimedes?
*Sigh* it really sucks when journalism majors end up working at science news outlets.

Oh, I know... maybe the author of that article is the type of person to offer $5 to people online to do his college science homework for him

the Bible is not a history book, so any dates or figures should be taken with a grain of sodium cloride.

40 days and nights is an old Jewish saying for "lots of". Taking it literally is stupid.

It never has nor will it ever rain for 40 days straight anywhere on earth.

Noah's Ark is a fable that is meant to teach you to trust God and accept his judgement.

This would be a big deal archeologically, but why on Earth would it make you re-think your religious views?

Because it gives credit to the Bible or something?

It wouldn't matter if the whole bible was the truth. I mean..

Look, it was 2,000 years ago. Obviously we didn't understand things the way we do today.

It very well could be true that the region flooded. Maybe someone decided to build a boat and save people and animals. People have done far stranger things in the name of God.

Doesen't change anything.

Actually heard a speech on this today from one of the researchers responsible for surveying ararat. Apparently the government of Turkey will not let researchers (who are all American) back into the area because of the Iraq war.

Also, even this researcher verified that right now there is no concrete proof about this image or the Ark being there at all. The majority of the focus for the archaelogists is not finding the Ark, as you might think, but is instead searching for villages and early societies surrounding Ararat that date to the time of Noah. Ararat is actually a huge mountain system, not just the one mountain.

Turns out that it was actually Noah's Lark. Studebaker Lark. All just a big misunderstanding in the Bible. He was just such a hick that he had two of every animal (well, lots of possums, hogs, and chickens) in the car already.

Maybe he means that some wealthy merchant or something got the idea that he'd need to build a boat for a coming stormy season, and he might have brough some horses or camels or something on it to repopulate afterwards. It rained really hard a few days, and there was local flooding. Afterwards, the merchant started travelling again, and told grand tales of his surviving this "great flood" with his "ark" and that he had two of every one of his animals onboard. Story got passed around about this, and eventually found its way into the combined works that became the Bible.

Maybe has something to do with Turkey being a Muslim country?

My mom has a book written buy some guy who did an expedition to see if the ark was up there. She actually met him and I think the book is even signed by him. I looked at it some but never read it (was too young and then had pretty much forgotten about it).

His last name I believe is Shockey. I can't remember the name of the book.

Ah, found it. The book is called Agri-Dagh Mount Ararat The Painful Mountain, and its written by Don Shockey.

Obviously aliens helped him, and obviously it was a spaceship that he flew to Mars.

If the technology is reliable, then the only thing keeping them from digging this up is Turkey.
