Lately i have heard all this tuff about people saying that abortion is bad, etc. Well i dont disagree with you that it is in a way taking a life, but then I sat down and watched something on the discovery channel or something about overpopulation. I remembered talking about it in biology 2, and It seems to be getting worse. Think about it. We are developing new medicine to keep us healthier longer, and that means that there will be more people on this planet longer. Im not saying that developing medicine is bad. Im all for it. I just think that people who have 5-6 kids, or even 3-4 should really cut down on how many children they have. And with people trying to abolish abortion, well theres more people. And people say, "well just because the parents cant handle it right now doesnt mean you should kill it" Well... i think that may help in keeping our numbers down. It my seem mean, but I think that reducing birth is the most humane way of keeping numbers down. Isnt it better than death??

You must live in or around a large metro area. Ever been to the midwest or even Montana, Idaho, the Dakotas? There's plenty of room.

Paragraphs help us bother to read your posts mate

It's an issue, but look at wild populations that exceed the carrying capacity of their habitat...they die.

P&N?

Anyways, the number of people isn't the big problem, but it's the resource consumption that some populations take. 5-6 billion people in societies like India and China (well, China is coming up in resource consumption) would be better than 5-6 billion people in an American society.

Overpopulation is an issue you find in developing countries (pretty much all of south east Asia). You don't see population growth issues in developed countries, unless they've had the issues for a while.

Actually I used to live right by chicago, moved out here to the middle of bum-fvck egypt, and this town is pretty small. And i dont mean that there wont be enough room for everyone, i mean not enough food, energy, etc.

our country has more room than you might imagine. and more room for resources to be grown. we only tend to grow what we need and a little bit for extra. farmers dont grow large excess because it isn't beneficial and worth their time. more people and more food required, more farms will spring up. don't worry, I don't think the US will see the day there is overpopulation.

Yeah, probably, but i mean the world as a whole. Look at china. yes i know they have laws now, but numbers are still going up.

nature will throw itself at the world when it needs to. my philosophical opinion? mankind is a disgrace on earth and probably won't see too much longer, at least not in the current numbers. we dont go extinct anytime soon i dont think but we wont exist in the fashion we do now for too long, hopefully. earth wont stay habitable the way we keep using it.

QFT

There is so much open space in this country for population and food to be grown. Abortion as a measure of population of control is a joke. Also, along with the medical advances that keep us alive longer using more resources come advances in farming that allow growing more food that is more resistant to disease, (arguably) better for you, and takes less space to grow.

There will be a mass culling of humans by disease eventually, don't worry.

The world's entire population could fit inside the Jacksonville Florida city lines. There is plenty of room.

the united states has a slightly above "stable" population. the reuiqred birth rate for a stable population is 2.1 children per woman. however, due to immigration, the US is over this figure.

more people in the world die from disease caused by over eating than under eating. We're not going to run out of food anytime soon.

Aside from India and China, some countries are in a population crisis. Like Japan, where they aren't having enough children.

Actually, it's shrinking.

Too many elderly people that are dying off, and the younger population either is overworked or not interested.

i think what most economist are worried about is the fact that if not enough people are born there might not be a sufficient amount of people in the labor force when the older people retire.
