I plan on voting for Ramaswamy or DeSantis, if possible. BTW, I balance my 2016-2020 choices by saying that I voted against his opponents, not for him.
In my opinion there are only two people who can possibly win the presidency in 2024 and you should choose between those two.

Our system is dumb and I agree it should not be reduced to that, but it is. Don’t deprive yourself of moral agency by picking ‘none of the above’. Choose what’s right.

What two people are you speaking of? BTW, my moral agency needs to be manifested by voting for people who have proven that they have the needed intellect and presence that I can admire and support. If whomever I vote for looses, my self-respect will be intact.

Obviously this is all counterfactual projections at this point but I think there would have been a ton of confusion and when confused people tend to stick with the status quo. I hope I would have been wrong but I think there's a strong chance that people would have given in and when later it turned out to all be bullshit we would have had a Very Serious Public Debate about how Trump was an illegitimate president and then not done anything.

Ironic that I find myself arguing that I think the US system is more robust than that. Given that I've always thought the US political system was massively flawed from its inception and that I have long thought the US is possibly the developed country most likely to go fascist (though there are other contenders, including us, I think the US edges it, and I'm not counting Russia as a 'developed country').

But there are clearly a lot of people in important positions within the US system who _do_ value democracy, and I just think to truly bring about the dstruction of it would require someone with the instinctive cunning and talent for political manipulation of an Adolf, and Trump just does not seem to me to have that.
Above all, he is not a long-term thinker or a concientious schemer. The thing that is alarming about his shenanigans is that it's not only those who want to see democracy survive who will have learned lessons from his failure. The whole thing would have provided lots of extremely useful data for anyone who wants to try again at some point.

yet in 2016 you voted against the objectively most competent, "most qualified," completely uncompromised candidate in US history...to vote for a thoroughly compromised mental midget, racist, and rapist.

Is it any wonder that you encounter people that challenge your judgement regarding "intellect and presence?"

Trump went for the back of the room with that line, which was both tactical AND true. In order not to seem lecturing and condescending, I suggest you open your mind a bit by reading Ann Coulter's book: "Adios Amigos". My wife was an intelligent lefty and it changed her mind about "immigration". One of her must salient points is that we have our own crop of monsters to deal with, why import more?
That's not a really good point, there will never be a way to ensure every immigrant is a good person so seems like a cop out to stop immigration all together even though the vast majority are good people.

If I never had to hear that toddler try to form a coherent sentence again, it would make me very happy. But alas... only a wish.

IOW your moral agency is about doing what you know to be wrong provided your self-righteous ego is served.

So apparently after CNN's Trump debacle, Cnn PrimeTime's show (which hosted the townhall) viewership has dropped significantly.
Hold the phone.

Did CNN drop, or did Newmax grow after Fox dropped Putin's mouthpiece?
There are a lot of raving mad MAGAs quitting Fox, and they are not going to CNN. The change in position may have nothing to do with the townhall. But rather, with Fox's shakeup.

CNN viewership dropped:

More than a week after CNN’s disastrous town hall with former President Donald Trump, the negative impact the fiasco had on the network’s ratings is coming into clearer focus.
Last week, the cable news pioneer suffered its lowest-rated week since June 2015, averaging just 429,000 total daily viewers from Monday-Friday.
