all that work into all kinds of marketing for the fan and they couldn't do some simple fan industry standard (non-consumer oriented fans) P vs Q plots?

Noctua tends to spend a lot of money on packaging with their products which I think it's pointless. I'd rather have the product be $5 less and come with a cheap packaging than spend that extra $5 on a premium packaging.

Black Noctua fans have always been requested but now that I've seen it, I'm not sure I'll get them. The black color is discreet and easier to blend in while Noctua's original color was distinctive. You could look from afar and could have guessed that its a Noctua, but not with a flat black color.

They're the ASUS of fan makers. Spend a little more on packaging, charge a whole lot more.

To heck with the fans . . .

I'm more interested in the comparison results between the D14 and D15.

Supposedly, these new fans "have more beef." Somebody may remember my recent satisfying results with an Gentle Typhoon AP-30 and wads of SPIRE acoustic material.

I said something like this earlier, but now I'm more confident: I could squeeze more than just 6C of improvement out of a D15 . . . With these review tests and my fanatical-anal-retentive methods, an extra 4C is a "done-dea-ulll!"

For some reason I think the Gentle Typhoon AP-30 are better than these industrialppc fans though we still need to see some reviews done against the AP-30. I purchased my D15 on Amazon two days ago so it should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to get that baby up and running!

Well -- it was never my intention to make you the guinea-pig while I hang back to see what happens!

Not looking back over the posts and links, I thought I saw where the subject Noctua fans top-ended at 3,000 RPM. But those are 140mm fans! And according to the RelaxedTech review, they push 159 CFM.

So it would be interesting to see . . . . just how quiet they seem at full-speed.

The review seems to indicate "under 30 dBA." If those are the fans bundled with the NH-D15, it's a vast improvement over the D14's bundle.

My NH-D15 finally arrived and I have been so busy testing it and comparing it to my nh-d14. So for the most part it seems that most reviewers are correct. The NH-D15 is about give or take 2-3c cooler than the NH-D14.

I tested it on my 4770K @ 4.7Ghz @ 1.31v.
[NH-D14] IDLE: 36c - LOAD 78c
[NH-D15] IDLE: 35c - LOAD 75c

Also, the NH-D15 does seem a little bit quieter than the NH-D14 even though its got two 140mm fans. Overall, I'm very pleased with the build quality of the NH-D15.

I'm curious enough that I'd incline to buying one just to see what I could do with it. It would mean designing another foam-board "box" duct to my exhaust fan. I'll have to save up some pennies -- it will be sometime in the next few months. . .
