Noise Reduction project!! please read!!

in my on going effort to end all annoying noise inside my case, i have come up with the following plan. First install 2 silencers for intake fans. Then replace my noisy Y.S. tech fans on my alpha p7125 and put in 2 ultra quiet adda 16 dBA (yeah thats real quiet)fans. Next, i will buy a silent drive for my quantum fireball kx 7200 rpm 27.3 gb harddrive. If heat becomes an issue i have a fan blowing onto the silent drive. And finally i will install a 92mm fan in the rear to blow air out?? any ideas on the 92mm fan, im thinking like a real quiet pabst fan or mabye even a panaflow. also where can i find these 92 mm fans.

what you should also do is cover the insides of the case with cardboards or something simmular... it works

I've been trying to cut back the noise too and I've kept it simple - two fans, one 80mm 19.8 dB fan in the PS and one for the CPU HS. My hard drive is in a SilentDrive enclosure and is inaudible.

You may want to consider the newest IBM deskstar 7200rpm drives (if you are willing to spend another $100 or so), they are very quiet and make my Seagate Barracuda ATA-II sound like it's broken in comparison.

just put some styrofoam eggcrates or blocks or whatever in the case and it will be a noticable difference. cardboard also works but i've hade better luck with styrofoam.

Firstly, simply take egg crate styrofoam stuff and line the top (if it isn't in the way of anything) and side where the case opens to all the stuff in the computer. Also, you can add some in the area below where the drives are (not below each individual drive, that would build up heat big time!). Then, get some very low decibal fans for that case to replace the loud ones. Finally, get really loud, high quality speakers.

Teamawe has 92mm panaflos, they may be louder than you may like.

You have never mentioned what kind of case you have. If a 92 fits easily in the back, use one if you want. If the case is made for an 80mm, then use an 80. With fairly open grilles and bezel, 3 silencers or 80mm L1A panaflos + the psu fan should be enough...

Most stock cases have lousy airflow characteristics. Relatively powerful fans are required to overcome the built-in resistance to flow. Just the way it is, and the rationale behind many case mods.
Some subtle changes can yield solid results.

DO NOT(!!!!!) use Dynamat or similar material. It will not help at all and will totally ruin your case. Ive given my whole rant about it before so Im not going to do it again but the stuff sucks and is a waste of time and money

Why not just go watercooling.. it cools much better and it dont make as much noise as the standard air cooling...

water cooling is an alternative, but doesn't that just cool the cpu and not the ambient? Can anyone point me in the direction of good water cooling and pricing? BTW, what about peltziers? you still need a hs/f but they're cool?
