Noise when CPU in use

I have a NF7-S rev2 and a Athlonxp-M

soundstorm of course. When the CPU is in use, i get this noise in my sound, not really static like random noise, but its more like a stready hum or whine. Also get it when I move my mouse when the CPU is idle, for every pixel it changes theres a tiny "tick" , so when I drag my mouse across the screen theres a steady buzz




anyone ever had this before? IRQ's maybe? its driving me insane >:-=

i tried doing the wire trick on my cpu once.. but if something went wrong youd think it woudl jsut blow the CPU

Where do you hear the sound, from the speakers?

I've gotten this sound out of the speakers when using/moving a microsoft intellimouse explorer, altho I don't know if I ever found out exactly what the issue was. I also was hooking up the sound output to a stereo amplifier, and If I'm not mistaken, I grounded the stereo to the computer and that helped a little, but not entirely.

I'm using a logitech mouse now and don't have the same issue anymore, altho have a different mobo as well as other components too, so I can't say for sure what my issue was.

well its not just the mouse, its liek when the computer isnt totally idle, it creates noise a buzz or tick.

its wierd... like ANYTHING, causes it, except when the pc is totally idle.


and yes it comes thru my speakers. but i use VOICE over MSN and Skype, and the person at the other end hears it as loud as i do, so tis not my speakers, its something inside my pc, some sort of noise or interference.

I have the exact same issue on my laptop but it only happens in power saving mode. Maybe you should try turning off power saving?

oh thanks, never thought of that, ill try it when i get home from work

edit: remote desktop to check, PC is set to home/office desktop. is this what yours was set to? i set it to "always on" but i not home cant check and i dotn think itll make a difference

modern CPUs are getting noisy. I hear a high pitched whine eveytime my computer a processing something intensive.

I'm onboard with this too, I hear a distinct sound when I minimize windows, even when the sound is muted.
