<< Pardon me saying this, but bullshit! I went through 5 Sony G420's (too many factory defects) before I got this monitor from Dell and I would have to say that this monitor is almost identicle to the Sony's. Actually, the specs are better on this Nokia FD Trinitron (Flat screen for all of those who want to know). I can run higher refresh rates on the Nokia. I'm currently running 1600 x 1200 at 85 hz and can run 100 hz at 1280 x 1024. Try that with a Sony G series. >>
umm a golden member?
what's the difference between nokia 445pro and sony cpd-g420? simple, the sony is better. why? cause they both do 1600x1200 @ 85hz, both have maximum at 1800x1440, but 445pro is 21" while cpd-g420 is 19". now let's do this thing again with a 21" sony cpd-g520, 1880x1440 @ 85hz, maximum 2048x1536 @ 75hz, there you go, cut the crap.
as for the brightness, as a software tester i have to look at different screens for 8 hours at work plus another 3-4 hours at home. at work they have sony monitors, dell monitors, compaq monitors, gateway monitors, all use trinitron tubes, at home i have the nokia and a sony. i know how they look like in all resolutions, contrast, brightness, in day time, in night time, with lights on, with lights off, so yeah, i can tell you that sony has the best contrast/brightness and is the most comfortable to look at. >>
A couple of notes:
The 445Pro does 2048x1536 also, but at 60Hz.
And comfortable viewing of a monitor is very subjective. What one person finds comfortable, may give someone else headaches...
