Yes, it is a heck of a deal, but check this deal out that they have at Best Buy:

I just bought the Nokia 3360. Altogether I spent about $180 on the phone, leather case, and a car adapter. The cool trick is that I got a $100 and a $50 BB gift card rebate, and ALSO an $80 rebate from AT&T for signing a 2 year contract, and they also waived the $35 activation fee. If you sign a one year, you get a $40 rebate instead of the $80, and you have to pay the $35 activation fee.

So, here's the math:

Nokia 3360 phone - $99.99
Leather case - $19.99
Car adapter - $24.99
BB 2yr service plan- $39.99
______________________
TOTAL - $184.96

DISCOUNTS/REBATES:

BB $100 Gift Card rebate - $100
BB $50 Gift Card rebate - $50
AT&T $80 rebate - $80
Leather case/car adapter discount - $15.00
Waived activation fee - $35.00
___________________________________
TOTAL - $280

So, in the end, I was essientially paid $100 to get my new cell phone. Can't beat that! And with my 2 year service plan that covers the phone and the battery, if either one of those dies, I get a new one. Also, after 12 months, I can put the full purchase price of my phone ($99.99) towards a new phone, even tho I had all those discounts!!

This is one heck of a deal for those of you who are looking for a new phone!

I'm not sure what the deal was exactly, but if you go in the store, I'm sure they could tell you. I'm pretty sure tho that it had something to do with signing w/ AT&T, so if you go with another carrier, the deal might be different.

I believe the offer runs until sometime in December, but I'm not sure how long. I would certainly go to BB and check it out. With this setup, it's actually cheaper for me to have a cell phone than a regular phone!

wow, that is a good deal. i think id rather sign for one year and try to talk them out of the $35 activation fee. 2 years is a long time; plus, if you sign for one year, im sure they will have another enticing deal when the year is up.

...and I'm sure there will be a cooler phone out in a year that you'll be able to hustle AT&T into giving you a discount on too!!

The nifty thing about the phone is that in one year, I get to put my purchase price of the phone ($99.99) towards the purchase of a new phone!!! It almost is kinda funny, considering all the rebates that I got with my phone.

Got that great deal from Bestbuy today and the phone is charging right now. Beware though, I ended up with about 9 feet of store receipts. They also have the 30 day return policy on the phone and the service.

BTW Newegg sells an extended Lithium-ion battery for the 3360 for 9 bucks.

Has anyone who currently has ATT service, month to month, not yearly contract, been able to get this deal? What about keeping the current phone number?

If you are lucky, you can get a good rep on the phone. Just call 'em up, tell them you found a killer deal of $X for X phone from X store. Point out that you have been a loyal customer for X years. Tell them that you want to save them the $300 commission, and would like them to match the deal. They should make you do a minimum contract, but as I said, if you get a good rep you may be able to get them to match the deal with your existing account.

Might even work better if you mention a competitor...

YMMV

EDIT - Oh yeah...I have successfully done similar deals with AT&T in the past, but been rejected other times. It can't hurt that I've had the same account with them for quite a while with an expensive rate plan.

i decided to go with the cingular deal from bestbuy. the phone was $70 and activation is $35 on my first bill. well, they have a $100 MIR and a $100 giftcard.
So, the MIR takes care of the phone and activation fee (almost).
I am left with about $95 in giftcard money and a new 3390 phone.
