Too late. Stupid me paid $165 for an 8290 a month ago. Too bad PacBell are dicks when it comes to changing contracts or returning/exchanging merchandise.

I live in downey, where is it? Is it at the mall or is it a standalone store... the mall has a million cell phone stands.

I just called ACG Telcom. They weren't open (it's 10:15AM now) and said they'll open at 12:00PM. The direct number to call is (562) 865-6800.

u can't cancel your phone and sign up for a new one. pacbell won't issue the rebate that way. u'd either have to upgrade your phone or cancel it and get someone else to open up a new line for u.

No I had it on order. I just cancelled it and now I'll be looking into this. For some reason, I clicked on the link that I provided above, inserted my ZIP code, and found that the Nokia 3390 cannot be activated in my area. Argh! TurtleMan, what is the term of contract in order to get this phone for free?

if you're looking for a phone for a cheap price, don't go to a pacbell pcs store cuz they must advertise for pacbell's price, go to one of those little asian shops, even though they're not supposed to be giving it away for free, they have it for cheap, but don't expect much customer service from those little stores. i'd rather try to price match a pacbell store with some other store that has it cheap, get good service and cheap price

Hmm, but that's true regarding most Asian stores. Cheap but lacks in customer service. I guess you win some, and you lose some. Right now, I'm just looking for a good cheap phone with a service plan not exceeding $30. I'll check back with them again.

Actually, you really don't need any customer service from the place you purchase the phone. If your phone is broken, you deal with the manufacturer or the equipment insurance. If the service has problem, you deal with the carrier.

I work for Pacific Bell PCS Store. These Nokia 3390 *ARE NOT* released by Pacific Bell Wireless. For more information, you can call Pacific Bell Wireless Customer Services at 1-800-393-7267. Pacific Bell Wireless would not warranty these phones since the phones are not from them. I talk to my Pacific Bell's Nokia Representative earlier this week regarding these Nokia 3390. Nokia would not warranty these either. It is likely these phones are from another GSM/PCS 1900 carrier from Canada or other GSM/PCS 1900 carriers. I would suggest people get the Nokia 8290 and Make sure the phone and packaging are from Pacific Bell. Pacific Bell Nokia 8290 comes with **2** face plates (One Blue, and One Red/Yellow), 1 original Nokia Hand free headset (Nokia part # HDC-5), and 1 travel charge (Nokia part # ACP-7U.) If you are not sure where your phone comes from, you can call customer services to see if the IEMI is clean and clear. Nokia 8290 for free is a very good deal. Pacific Bell PCS just droped the price of Nokia 8290 from $199 to $99 started Dec 15. Good Luck.

Here is some helpful information

well, you are wrong about the bad service in chinese store
as matter of fact, if you get the phone from them, they are responsable for you
If you have problem with the phone, you go to them, they will fix it
if you have problem with billing, they will help you out too.
What's new in a PCS store, a 5190 ? a 6190 ? Well it is your choice
on what you would like to get, but just how much you would like to spend on it
free or 100 bux ? you can get insurance on those phone anyway, so it is the same
I been using cellphone for over 3 yrs , and i haven't got a problem with it
so just a tip on saving u guys money : )

No offense, I think it is very good deal to get the Nokia 8290 for free. I will suggest to wait for the Nokia 3390. I tried the phone myself, it is a very cool phone. It has most of Nokia 8290 feature. It has some new features. The unit is little bigger and weight at 4.2oz. It doesn't have an IrDA port on the phone. If you are going to use with your PDA or Notebook computer, you are out of luck. Over all, it is a good phone. When Nokia 3390 come out from Pacific Bell, it is going to be a LOW-END phone. It is not release by Pacific Bell Wireless, you can't claim phone insurance when Pacific Bell PCS doesn't even have the phone. I know there are many other dealers offer Nokia 8290 for free with Activation of $29.99 or higher. Many of these dealers offer better services than some of the Pacific Bell PCS Store (I have to admit to this one. ;-P .) It doesn't matter where you get your phone. It is good that you can get the phone for free, but just make sure that you can get warranty on unit. To claim phone insurance will cost $35 for deductible. This is just my $0.02.

TurtleMan, do they have a deal on a Nokia 8890 there? I would get a 8290 over a 3390. It's lighter and I read some reviews on people complaining about certain features (and reception). We'll see, I would wait on that one also.

If you sign up there, will they give you anything else along with the phone, like say a battery charger?

umm, a 8890 cost like 200 bux @ ACG telcome i think, something like that
but it is a lot cheaper than other place, so far they sold a lot already
because it is like the cheapest around all the place.
Umm a battery charger ? you mean like the battery charger stand ?
They give away free leather case, free plate cover, free battery charger, free car charger
and free earpiece alone with the phone. Yea 8890 is a lot nicer than 8290 or 3390
and 3390 aint that great.. just saw one today. yap thats it.

For all those that are looking for a cell phone (Nokia 8260) from ATT and do not want Pac Bell and don?t want to deal with small stores...(Dealing with ATT Wireless Center) Plus ATT has better reception in my area compared to Pac Bell and you never get a service busy alert because there are too many people on their network. So calls actually go through when you want them to.
I just helped my friend get this deal after shopping at a LOT of those small Asian stores.

Nokia 8290 = $99 (after price match)
Nokia Rebate = $-30
Att Rebate = $-75
Tax = ($199x.0825 because they tax the full retail value of the phone, stupid i know.)= $16.41
Activation = $25 (pacbell is $30)
Total = $35.41

+++++ But if you want to go through my saleswoman she gives me a Credit of $25 for every person i refer, But it is credited to my account. I am willing to give back to this forum and give you my credit.++++
So that will make the Total +10.41 including TAX, Phone, and Activation!!!!
Remember... Now i will not make ANY money so it is not a referral damit. And you can get it for $35.41 without me.

But if you want it for around $10 e-mail me at keyzipa13@home.com for details.

I got my phone last week from an Asian store in Walnut, CA. The Nokia 8290 is free and it isn't free at other places. I just had to pay for tax, which came out to be about $25. It's not too rough but having AT&T might be great now that PacBell will not provide you with mobile-to-mobile service if you don't pay the extra $10.

I think the phone ATT uses it not the 8290 but the 8260. I don't think ATT uses GSM.

RangerX...where in Walnut..I live in Walnut! The one in Pacific Plaza???
