Hey Ranger X,
Do you have a store name where you got the 8290 free in Walnut? My friend has been looking for a good deal in that area, and free sure sounds good. If you could, let me know the name, location, and number for the store you got it at. Thanks.

yep i was wrong jummy.. i put down the wrong # it is the nokia 8260... All ATT Nokia Phones ends with xx60.

My experience with pacbell is that their plans are GREAT but their reception is bad. My friends have to use my phone most of the time to call when we are in buildings. But you cannot beat unlimited mobile to mobile. I had a friend that used around 16,000 min (yes it is right) in one month with mobile to mobile to his gf in San Diego.

KeyzerSoze- he might be referring to a place in Rowland Heights. It is in Diamond Plaza. The phone for pacbell is $105 plus 8 something for tax and $30 for activation... But to get it free you have to mail in a rebate. All the pacbell places i checked this week were like that. But i don't know about the company in the first post... i could not reach them...

There is another place called "Wireless Lines" in Rowland Heights. Its in the Pacific Plaza ( Across the street from Hong Kong Supermarket). My friend works there and they are giving the Nokia 8290 for free. (Acutally, you just pay tax) Just go in and ask for "Lee" and he will hook you up. Tell him Jimmy sent ya (Don't worry, I get no referral bonuses or anything, just trying to help you guys out...).

Wireless Lines!! A few of my friends have shopped there...they charge you tax on the full price of the phone ($200-$300), so you can expect to pay $15-$20 on these so-called "free phone" deals. Their prices are competitive, but some of their staff is ditzy and unprofessional (this is the general consensus of my friends and myself). One employee, for instance, has a tendency to brush her hair excessively and take personal calls while handling clients... To make matters worse, the Rowland Heights store operates as a subdealer, so there is frequently a 1 hr. wait while they try to communicate back and forth with their main office. If you can find a similar deal elsewhere (remember, they get you on tax), then I suggest you take it. In fact, if you want a 5xxx or 6xxx Nokia or a Startac, you can probably get a better deal with amazon.com's $50 off $100 wireless coupon (phone + accessories) coupled with that $75 AT&T rebate. But if you do decide to hit up Wireless Lines, then be sure and stop by Little Bean next door and get a boba drink.

Little Bean is too expensive. If you're in that plaza, go into the food court in the corner of the plaza. There's a shop called Tea Shop thats much better...

They have to charge you tax on the full price on the phone. It's the same almost everywhere. I think I know the girl your talking about...your correct..she's not very smart.... Their main store is in San Gabriel (In the 99 Ranch Market Plaza...Focus?).

P.S. Tea Shop rocks. The owner of Little Bean is a meanie!@

Haha, ok, isn't the Tea Shop the one that's playing the melodic trance all the time in the food court over there??? Hahaha...it's just funny how they always play the same type of trance there... But I dont even know how they get all that stuff since they always have different songs...

Anyways, I just saw in the paper (OC Reg) how Pacbell has new plans where you can pick *unlimited* night/weekend minutes (or mobile to mobile or 150 anytime min) with free long dis ($39 and up plan) and the minutes they give you has increased too (150 for $29 300 for $39), hope I'm reading right since I hated how LA/OC only had weekend minutes before...
And I also hear from a friend that the 3390 is officially out now... dont know about that, have to check with a PBW store on that one.

Hello,

I want to get the Nokia 8260 for AT&T. I have some questions.

I read that there is a asian store where I can get the 8260 for free plus tax.

1.where exactly is the store located(address, phone number)?

2.are there other places that have it for free?

thanks,
seung

Ok, to those of you who got in on this deal, if the phone stops working, do I go to that store, or is the warranty handled through PacBell? Like if it's lost or stolen and I bought insurance on it, what do I do to get my new one?

thanks.

well, i don't konw if this will help your question:

i have AT&T, nokia 8260.

i pay about $3 a month extra for insurance, which covers lost, theft, and damage. I would have to pay a $35 deductible, but that's better than paying $150 for a new phone. And trust me, the insurance is good.

if i were u i'd ask the store u went to that same question....my guess is that they would cover you for 2 weeks, and then the rest is up to you...but that's my guess.

seungboy.
i don't know where u can get the 8260 for free except for online. check out buy.com and amazon.com, and u can see they have some coupons and good deals on the phones. or if you have been w/at&t for a while, call 611 and negotiate w/the operator for a phone...i got my 8260 for $15 when it first came out like that.

From experience, Nokia 8290 has horrible reception. If you're in NYC area, this phone is free with Voicestream- good service, bad phone. Is there anyway to "boost" the reception?

to answer the warranty question, you go to a pac bell store
but if you went asian style (no offense, i'm asian, and this is a truth) and went all out with the batter cover attenae etc, you're SOL for warranty, cuz performance is not guaranteed if your fone is modified in anyway

KeyzerSoze,

The place is called AG Telecom. It's in Walnut on E. Colima. They still have the 8290s for free so check it out.

In LA, always go to Chinese mobile stores to get the best deal. 8290 has been free since at least one month ago.

Anyone know of any deals in the Hartford, CT area?

I'm looking for a hot deal on the 8260, 8290, or the 3390. No Asian stores around here...

Anyway i was wondering if any of you knew how to get a SCREEN LOGO onto my 8290?
for some reason, my sim card wont save it, and it wont save to the phone memory.
if i switch to an older sim card (without the 32k symble), then it saves the logo, but my phone number is on my newer sim card, so what do i do? thianks...

hey Diggitydog: try buy.com or amazon.com for deals on the 8260 for AT&T service. I signed up for the ATT Regional Advantage 120 plan for 29.99/month and you get 120 anytime minutes and 500 night/weekend minutes per month. Free long distance and no roaming charges within home region(from Virginia to Maine). Outside of this region, it's 60 cents/min roaming. I live in Philly area so this is perfect for me. Hartford is within this region also.

The phone costs 79.99 from buy.com with activation and 1 year contract or 99.99-50 coupon from amazon. I bought mine from buy.com before I saw the amazon deal but still a good deal nonetheless . There is also a $75 rebate from AT&T when you sign up for a plan 29.99 or higher. Theres a $25 activation fee also.
