I know its not a powerhouse or an IPhone but it looks interesting to me, especially for only $430 \ no contract. I think I'm going to pick one up until the 1020 replacement is released.

Main camera sensor: 10 MP, PureView.
.Display size: 5''.
.Display resolution: HD720 (1280 x 720).
.Processor name: Snapdragon 400.
.Maximum talk time (3G): 14.8h.
.Battery capacity: 2200mAh.
.Wireless charging: Built-in (Qi standard).

SD slot too!

Where did you see that price? 430 is way too high IMO. it is only a minor upgrade over the 920/925, which can be had for 2-300. They need to release this as close to 300 as possible. It is similar specwise to Moto G, can't put too much of a premium on it.

I seen the price on EBay and reports.

SD slot alone is worth the update to me. Nice size, decent specs. It is pathetic MS can't release a true flagship with any real frequency. My 1020 feels ancient now. M8's on on Verizon and its not a better option then other devices.

I'm sticking with the Icon until there's a 1020 successor.

I consider the 1520 and Icon true flagships, but I haven't heard anything about the next PureView flagship yet. Probably early next year around March when all the other companies are releasing the next wave of phones.

Pretty much this.
Has CPU/screen size same as Moto G and costs double?

G has a 4.5 doesn't it? 830 has 5". Still doesn't justify the price I guess.

The 2014 Moto G is 5".
FYI, Motorola is selling the New Moto X (2014) for $450 off contract with edu discount.
Why would anyone buy the Lumia over the Moto X with a Snapdraon 801, 1080p screen?
Yes the Lumia's camera is better, but nothing else is.

Unless you really want the camera, there's not much reason to go for the 830. The 735 is basically the same stats, except for that, and looks to be going for closer to $250.

Of course, the real problem is that neither phone is available in the US right now. Microsoft, if it wants to have any hope of gaining market share right now, needs to spread up its US releases, and drop the carrier exclusives when it does.

The 830 also has Glance, and the 5" display is perfect for an extra column of tiles--it's a more functional phone. That, along with the rear camera and premium build, makes up for an extra $100 to me.

I somewhat agree. Its annoy we have to settle when sticking with windows phones. Because of the office integration and killer cameras I can't see myself switching but it still sux.

830s are onsale on eBay, won't it work on ATT?

Waiting to see if Verizon actually gets the 735 as rumored. f/1.9, 6.7mp main cam, despite not being stabilized, (basically, return of the 720 cam) is pretty darn nice. Qi charging, NFC, only real annoyance to me is lack of camera button. AAWP has a writeup on it already.

Would like to see MS lead on the camera button...pick a fucking niche. Work on cameras/imaging, make that your thing (along with One Windows/Office/Xbox/etc blah blah) but seriously. Make imaging (and durability, fwiw) your shtick, up and down the lineup. Camera button. Add some light moisture resistance, and bam. Every model.

Don't "upgrade" your 520 to the 530 by giving it a fixed focus shooter with no camera button and a screen with no ambient light sensor, so when you go outside you can't even see the damn thing to hit stupid virtual button and get a quick shitty shot. /rant

edit: sorry, got carried away

I would maybe jump but I'm waiting for a 930(or equivalent) AT&T release, and then on top of that getting a used one off Swappa. Windows Phones do not hold their value, 920's were $300 3 months after release on Swappa.

I thought I might be, but now I'm waiting for the flagship Lumia that gets released with Windows 10.

The lack of an ambient light sensor is the #1 reason I wouldn't consider replacing my 521 with a 530 or 635. That seems like such a basic thing for a smartphone to have. The camera button is nice to have as a shortcut to get to the camera, but I find that using it to actually take a picture can lead to moving the whole phone making the picture come out blurry.

Yeah, there are actually many times I end up using the virtual button for that reason, even with the OIS on my 928 and Icon.

The Blu Win Jr actually looks really interesting, as does the Blu Win HD -- only complaint on the HD is they didn't bump up to a 400 level processor, but hmmm.

I actually really like the look of the 735 vs the 830 -- the 830 is like a hodgepodge of their various design stylings.

Re: ambient light sensor -- the worst part is that Nokia has it absolutely NAILED on brightness levels, response times, etc. I leave it on and it works flawlessly on all 3 of mine, even the 520.

I've never had a problem with the lack of an ambient light sensor with my Lumia 635. One method of controlling brightness is by dragging down the Action Center, then tapping on the top right side (where the brightness shortcut is by default for a 635) until it cycles to 'high'. I find it so easy to do that I don't even have to be looking at my phone. You can also custom tune each level of brightness, which I vastly prefer to the consequently now 'meh' auto-brightness of my Lumia 520.

If the lack of an ambient light sensor is what's holding anyone back from a Lumia 630/635, but you don't mind returning a phone that you don't like, then I totally recommend giving it a shot--especially since they've been available for $80 (AT&T) and $99 (T-Mobile).
