Yes the Nokia 520 is a no contract phone. I have one, it isn't very powerful but its browser is capable and GPS is fabulous.

I see $65 locked to AT&T, $110 unlocked. The T-mobile 521 is $86.

OP might have gotten a personalized deal, but it's dead for the rest of us.

It wasn't a personalized deal, I've seen it advertised elsewhere. And Amazon has approached this pricepoint before. Wuith regard to seeing it at $65 locked, I'm not sure how. It's a GoPhone. And the 520 model only exists as an unlocked device for AT&T.

And this phone, even at $100, has no build quality equal. So anybody saying that it feels like a $45 phone needs to play with more entry price smart phones.

Fry's often sends codes for this phone from AT&T for $39.95, if you have signed up for their email deals. It's certainly worth that or the $45. The GPS/Navigation will work offline and you can download the maps free or the whole US or just sections. Free map updates and updated fairly often. Better than most stand alone GPS and lots cheaper. Don't understand the criticism of the phone considering its price. With the latest Windows phone update its not bad at all.

Very good phone! Gets a 4G signal when other phones don't. Add an SD card and update to 8.1 quite a capable little handset.

Why in the world does the Tmobile Nokia 521 (the exact same phone) always cost $20 more? And if they are indeed the same phone like I think, can I use this on Tmobile? I have a cracked 521.

The 520 is also available as a T-Mobile. Both are carrier locked and getting an unlock code is possible from T-Mobile by following the instructions on their website. Requires the use of the phone for something like 6 weeks. Don't know about AT&T's exact policy on unlocking. 3rd party codes are not easy to come by and have a poor success rate. Wal-Mart often handles both carriers phones and sometimes at around $50. They are usually just hung on the rack with phone accessories. Bubble packaged.

Since there is an AT&T GoPhone listing for the $65 and an unlocked listing for more, will this $65 listing work on Consumer Cellular?

Lots of misinformation here. The 520 and 521 are not the same phone. They are physically different. The 521 is longer for one thing and cases are not interchangeable.
Screens are the same.
T-mobile phones use other frequencies, and more frequencies than AT&T so the 521 is different in that way also. The AT&T 520 is missing the ability to work on certain T-mobile frequencies.
Don't bother trying to interchange phones. Get the proper phone for the network you want to use and be done with it.

Thank you for clearing it up. I used to have an Android tablet and I spent a lot more time trying 3rd party tweaks and roms to make it faster (it was so slow) than actually enjoying it. Trying to get something to work on Tmobile that was designed for AT&T sounds like another one of these rabbit holes.

I've got to admit I bought and iPhone and iPad since and have spent virtually zero time screwing around with them. My daughter has a cracked Nokia 521 and I was inquiring because I may replace it one day. She never took the glass sticker off and that is what is holding the glass together and keeping it from cutting fingers.

I picked up 3 of these during the Christmas holidays. For under $ 50 you are getting a dual core processor and 4g. Great phone for the price though the build quality is somewhat skimpy but not too bad. Whatever you do don't use on Straight Talk (mms does not work at least in my area).

Best part is the gps works without a plan so when you move on to another phone in the future...you can still use the phone as a gps unit!

My 2 cents

Looks like $55 at Radio Shack this week, betting on better deals, but the whole not good for Tmobile concerns me.

To fix the mms issue on Straight Talk you need to edit the mms apn.

Go to SETTINGS then to Cellular. Scroll down until you see the sections to edit internet and mms apn settings.

For internet apn settings APN should be tfdata, all other boxes are left blank.

For mms apn, APN should be tfdata, WAP gateway (URL) should be mms3.tracfone.com. WAP gateway port is 80. MMSC(URL) is http://mms-tf.net/ and MMSC port is 80. All others are left blank.

I bought a 521 in January, its been good. Had an iPhone 4 (and had some iPhone model since the original was released in 2007). My intent is/was to use the 521 as a stop gap until iPhone 6.

Really like the Windows Phone 8.1 preview. The soft keyboard is fantastic. Live tiles are cool. The device does seem not super fast a bit at times, but it was $70 OTD and its not that bad.

There is a distinct lack of apps, but that really hasn't been an issue. I have found most of what I 'need' vs. want. Youtube 'app' (not really an app, just a weblink) kind sucks. The MS published fitness app is excellent.

Overall, recommend.

I'm impressed with the service prices of those two ATT mvnos compared to Tmobile's $50 a month.

Looks like I could save another $20 a month.
