Could you believe its already december? Last year we started a thread - Click Here to view it -to see what the best deal was. Well it seemed "Value America" value dolloars was the best deal last year. What do you think was the best deal this past year?

I Personally think it was my USB zip drive i got from sears for $54 bucks...

ohh, and my 3 copies of windows 2000 that I won from Microsoft (they essentially made 1 out of 5 win)

Id have to say the "free" shopss computer after everything was finished. Although I think some people got burned and I feel bad for them. Also the free 30hr TIVO I received from their sweepstakes was pretty sweet. Anything free is good pretty much =)

Nothing specific, but overall, the 20% off Passport deals, in addition to coupons and other % offs has to be among the top. And Staples PMs+coupon combos are always good, too bad they're always out of stock or have lying CSRs, so that makes it not so good..

1) Mercata $100 + Microsoft Passport 20% off.
2) Staples Pricematch + Coupon.

Too many to remember, have to bring up old credit card statements online.

This is a tough call...either the $50 Nomad II from emusic or the
HP/e-stamp 930c printer.

Hopefully, we'll see some good promos again once Xmas passes.

Free E-Stamps 930c printer. AND the $400 free from E-trade for letting a $1000 siting in their account for a month (althought that was officially Dec 1999).

USB zip as best deal? I don't get it. It may be a good discount, but who really bothers with zip drives anymore, with burners and broadband everywhere?

Personally I liked the free deskjet 930c from e-stamp, but I also profited heavily from the 20% MSN deals (and I'm still doing so, might I add).

P.S. Forgot about the $50 Nomad. I also got the free RaveMP 64 meg version which I promptly sold on egay.

From what I can remember, the $54 Zip and the 2 BFL 20% off rebates (saved at least $350).
The Microcenter $400 Etrade deal was pretty sweet as well.

You need separate categories.

Best monitor deal has to be the Compaq 19" for $150 shipped

Anyone remember that OfficeMax LCD deal for $299? I didn't get one but I'm sure the ones who did were pretty happy. It was one of the longest threads I can remember.

the lcd deal is one I was inches away from getting...but I think the manager snagged it for himself when he went back to the stockroom to get it, and mysteriously came out and said it was gone. 10 minutes earlier i called and told them to hold it, and they did.

I nominate:

(1) From CompUSA in January, the Imation 8x20 external CDR kits, with the Adaptec 2930 SCSI controllers, for $150 after rebate. Remember, these were the re-badged Plextors, and this deal inspired a web site for flashing the BIOS ID string to make it be recognized as a Plextor drive. To date, there has been no comparable deal on a SCSI CDR drive.

(2) From Circuit City in September, the Philips 14-hour TiVo with multiple rebates which could bring the price down to $0 (with TiVo service) after rebates are paid--and then there was a pricematch against Wal-Mart which cut another ~$50 off the price. Sweet!

Edit: Add another one: (3) The free + shipping ($8) 3com 3CXFEM656C PCMCIA LAN+Modem card for the first 500 customers. I got in thanks to a post right here on this forum! Nice, nice, very nice!

I would have to say the 930 printer or the $99 JBL subwoofer that I got from Office MAx for $1.06 after tax. The girl at the counter said it was the best deal she had ever seen. I got the $89 JBL speaker for $9 too! Then my brother and my dad came in and got some speakers too. I was the only one that got the sub.

The leather chair for $15, the fabric chair for $18, and the 4x4x6 external hp cdrw from staples for $33 along with the $7 intellimouse explorer from Staples were the best deals for me. Of course, I remedied my use of those coupons I thought weren't going to go through by purchasing overpriced stationary from them months later.

It's definitely OfficeMax's IntelliMouse w/ IntelliEye deal.

It may not be the most marked down dollar-wise, but after pricematching it a few times (hehe), I got 10 for about $8 apiece. They retailed for something like $40 or $50. I exchanged them for my WD Expert 20.5 (I think $149 at the time retail, maybe $199) that I got for NEGATIVE $5 ($30 rebate)

Man oh man, I exchanged those for so many cool things. I sold a few as well, one for I think $15 (the guy got a helluva deal)

I would have to say that the 256 MB DIMM from BUY.com was the best deal for me since I only discovered this web site about a month ago....what a deal
