I've had Charter high speed cable for the past couple years and there has not been one day when the internet connection was solid. It's not like the signal just drops. I stop getting a connection from my outside box. I've had multiple technicians come out and mess with it leading to no success. One guy said my neighbors heavy internet traffic could be interfering with my line, so he put come kind of "filter" on it to stable it out, but that still didn't work. I'm paying $50/mo for 30mb that i can't even use. Are there any non-cable or dsl providers out there that are reliable? I don't have a phone landline and live in the suburbs of Atlanta(Gwinnett County.) If anyone has experience or suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.

Have you replaced the modem? If not, I would try that before dumping the service. Make sure they give you a modem-only device, not a combo modem + wireless router. Also, your neighbors use shouldn't affect your own service unless you are sharing the connection, or you are saturating the same Wi-Fi channel... In the latter case, simply change the wireless channel on the router. If you are connected over Wi-Fi, I would switch that off and try plugging directly into the router with an ethernet cable, then run a speed test (speedtest.net or speakeasy.net/speedtest) to see if you are getting the promised bandwidth. Do not run these tests over Wi-Fi as you will be unable to measure that much bandwidth accurately.

Ive gotten my moden replaced twice. My router is a brand new dlink which cant be givig my issues already. I heard cable service is a connection shared by all residents inthe neighborhood it covers... I tried a wired connection to he main desktop and its getting abt what i should be getting(~30mb) :/

Sounds like your problem is the inherent slowness and unreliability of wireless then if you get good results wired. See the sticky on antenna orientation and changing channels to 1, 6, 11 to see what works best. There are plenty of things that interfere and cause very poor performance or even no performance.
