Looking at building a non gaming computer that will be used for general work, including photography and maybe down the road video editing. Would like the system to last a couple of years. Not partial to Intel or AMD. Have come up with this Intel but do not know what on the AMD side is comparable.

CPU Intel Core™ i5-2500K Processor, 3.30GHz w/ 6MB Cache

Motherboard Asus P8P67 Deluxe

Memory Corsair XMS3 CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-27 240PIN Core i5 i7 AMD Memory Kit

Video 2xDVI Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort

Hard Drive Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black 7200rpm SATA III w/ 64MB

DVD Asus DRW-24B1ST 24x DVD-RW Drive, SATA, Black, OEM

Power Supply Corsair HX 750W Power Supply w/ 140mm Fan Case

Antec Three Hundred Versatile Mid Tower Gamer Case

RAM is more money then it is worth, SAMSUNG 1TB F3 is cheaper for same performance as the WD black, and finally your PSU is about 400w too much, a quality 350w-400w unit would work fine.

Regarding the memory are you saying cut it down to 4GB of RAM? I am in Canada and due to past experience would prefer not to use Newegg.ca for product.

if you aren't gaming and you don't need dual monitors and you're not overclocking, you could consider an H67 board with built-in video

if nothing else, I don't think you need a $150 video card

^ Still, that level of video card isn't required. An H67 motherboard or entry-level discrete card (HD4350?) should be fine as long as it has the two digital outputs.

I agree with the previous posters' advice.

Additionally, the P8P67 Deluxe is $250, which is a bit much for a P67 board. I recommend getting the GA-P67A-UD3 at $135. If you're one of those poor souls who still needs Firewire, look into the vanilla P8P67 at $171.

I believe that we've saved you enough money for you to be able to afford a 120GB Corsair Force. The SSD will make a far larger difference in performance than a fancy mobo or PSU will.

I used to use Gigabyte but soured on them when I had problems with 3 of their motherboards last year. One was had a buggy BIOS which Gigabyte refused to acknowlege was their problem even though others where having the same problem.

I was planning on using two dual DVI lcd screens

As long as you don't need to drive two dual-link DVI screens (above 1920x1200) you can run dual monitors off H67 with the Intel HD 2000 or HD 3000 IGP. You'll need an adapter or cable that can go from HDMI to DVI for one of them ($5-10 from Monoprice?), but it can be done.
