why did you buy all that?
He's going to drink it to commit suicide when he gets infected by someone that didn't have any hand sanitizer to clean their hands.
why did you buy all that?
Quarantines should be accelerated, not slowed down or ended.Shit.
Coronavirus: Sacramento County Gives Up On Automatic 14-Day Quarantines
The California county includes the hospital that treated the first known U.S. case of community spread of COVID-19, which went undiagnosed for days because of problems with the U.S. testing program.www.npr.org
Sacramento no longer trying to actually contain the virus, now focusing on triage techniques.
Oh! OK, you should quarantine yourself for 14 days AFTER you seem 100% recovered? I'm OK with doing that, but want to be sure that's protocol. I have NOT been seeing/hearing that other than your post quoted here.Yes, it is. There's a reason why people are being quarantined for 14 days AFTER recovery.
If someone can be an infectious carrier upwards of ~13 days post recovery, which at least some data seems to suggest, then yes a quarantine of 14 days would be necessary to halt further spread. If you don't care that much about spreading, it's not necessary.Oh! OK, you should quarantine yourself for 14 days AFTER you seem 100% recovered? Just wait until the public finds out the next round of triage includes denying the old and critically ill/injured a bed in the ICU to make room for the younger and more likely to survive patients, and hospitals will deny access to just about anyone and everyone with non-life threatening injuries and illnesses because all of the beds will be taken up by COVID-19 patients.
Dang. I've never taken zinc, period. Just looked the other day and see my mature adult multi-vitamin (from Costco) contains 11mg zinc, but wasn't aware of that before ~3 days ago.i have been taking zinc every night for the past 6 years.. ZMA. I also take zinc everytime i feel like a cold is coming on, every 2 hours they taste like grape candies so they are also enjoyable to take. just reupped my current stock with hundreds of them. The price of rice has shot up 6$ more for 50 pounds. I tried to sell n95 masks on ebay for a affordable price and for some reason they took down my listing saying something about item not allowed because of price gouging (which i wasnt even doing) but i see others with their n95 listings 120$ for 20 ;( wonder what happens if i list them here
what the shit, the article says they only have about 10 cases. how can they be overwhelmed already? who is in charge there they are screwin up!Shit.

I figure I'm likely to get it. I'll be more careful than most people, but this:If someone can be an infectious carrier upwards of ~13 days post recovery, which at least some data seems to suggest, then yes a quarantine of 14 days would be necessary to halt further spread. If you don't care that much about spreading, it's not necessary.
Just stay safe. You're in the dangerous range for those that catch it.I figure I'm likely to get it. I'll be more careful than most people, but this:
1. I live in a fairly high density area
2. I work out 3x/week. I could stop that and maybe will if/when things get pretty hairy around here (i.e. my HMO is stressed to treat current patients ... or getting there!)
3. I volunteer as DJ at college radio station. I might take hiatus from that if things get hairy. I am 76! But I'm likely in top 10% or better health than others my age.
If I do get it (or figure I did), I'll sequester for 14+ days after I feel 100% (whatever that is).
I'm not getting a good vibe from the crow ... crowing on my fence

Of course, but fever and inflammation are undeniably immune responses. Without those most would never know they had the flu. .ight not even feel a tickle, since that's the inflammation.I don't entirely buy that. It's not solely your immune response that makes you sick - otherwise you'd be better off with no immune system at all! Eventually the disease will make you sick directly, regardless of your immune system response caused symptoms. If your immune system doesn't respond you will get really sick really quickly.
I don't know why people think that's so noteworthy. The same applies to influenza too.
Without symptoms, they aren't oozing saliva and mucous on everything. If an asymptomatic carrier is careful they can minimize the risk. Obviously kissing / swapping spit with an asymptomatic carrier would do it.
I've gone to the gym for years, but quit last week due to the coronavirus pandemic. No cases known around here yet, and the chances today are probably close to 0% of catching it at the gym. But that won't be the case a month or two from now, and I expect most gyms will eventually be closed nationwide at some point this year.I work out at a 24hourfitness gym 3x/week. I could stop that and maybe will if/when things get pretty hairy around here (i.e. my HMO is stressed to treat current patients ... or getting there!)
It was just a stupid pun.I could have looked up aole mole (sp?). I did, finally. Yeah, not chemistry. I do read your posts. Your style is yours, I am OK with letting you have it, it's certainly your own. I respect the fact that you're informed, educated, give a shit in spades. Can't say that for most people.
Hospital triage was barely even needed outside of Hubei due to: the huge decrease in person-to-person contact all across China, everyone wearing some sort of PPE outdoors, constant monitoring of citizens for symptoms, and well enforced travel bans. It came at a huge economic cost, but has prevented a massive number of deaths (so far).I . . . get the impression that the PRC used triage effectively outside of Hubei province. Less quarantines? Or at least that's what that WHO interviewee made it sound like. Not sure if I can take anything the WHO says about China as objective observation anymore.
The worst cases will get the beds until the beds are full. Then the worst cases will be lucky to get a simply oxygen mask/tubes before dying. Anyone who isn't in need of immediate hospitalization won't even get the chance for a real exam from a doctor, and would just risk getting sicker by visiting the hospital anyway. While I agree that many medical facilities will be overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients, I expect the results of triage to be the opposite of what you laid out here: the worst cases will get beds, while the young will be given some cold/flu medicine and sent home.
I hear they have cases and cases of hoarded N95 masks and SARS-CoV-2 test kits hidden in the basement along with some unfortunate dude's bike.It was just a stupid pun.
Remember the Alamo!
of course then alot of people could not go to work due to the kids being at home right? im on the fence with having kids wear masks and gloves at school i think tomorrow they will start, maybe move them into the garage and install a shower out there so they dont infect me with their kid germs hahahaHonestly, I think they should close all schools in the US for a month. And only broadcast sports games and don't let people attend the events live in person.
Are you a junk dealer?I got a little tingle in my chest!

In an op-ed in The Washington Post published Monday, Bossert said that unless the U.S. closes schools, halts public gatherings and takes other steps to reduce community transmission, the country is headed for the sort of crisis Italy is now facing, with hospitals overwhelmed by elderly people in need of critical care.
“Simply put, as evidence of human-to-human transmission becomes clear in a community, officials must pull the trigger on aggressive interventions,” Bossert wrote. “Time matters. Two weeks of delay can mean the difference between success and failure. Public health experts learned this in 1918 when the Spanish flu killed 50 million to 100 million people around the globe. If we fail to take action, we will watch our health-care system be overwhelmed.”
I use two 40" 4k Samsung screens for my home office setup...they are only 30 htz refresh though but that isn't too bad for work stuff...if I wanted 60 htz, I would either need to use a single screen or drop down to 1080p which ain't gonna happen...
