See, that's one reason I'm not leaving the house. My neighbor is deep in epidemiology, his mom was/is (?) a doctor and he tells me she had a deep interest in epidemiology. He told me confidently a week ago that in two weeks we'd be Italy. I figure if I need a ventilator, I'm likely a dead man. They'd give mine to somebody else and shut the door.

yeah, waiting until the hospitals are back to less than capacity would be ideal

Probably had symptoms or known contact with an infected individual. He was only sentenced days ago, well within the incubation period.

They look for existing antibodies. Those tests are on the way but the current test looks for the virus.

if you get coronavirus..how much can an oxygen concentrator help with breathing if one can't to a hospital? I recently picked one up off craigslist not because of covid-19, but with the intention of not have to rent and keep high pressure oxygen bottles for brazing/silver soldering. If its something that could save a life in a pinch .. I would go ahead an order the tubing nose piece that directs the oxygen into the nostrils (cannulas)

Just saw a story on the local news about a 7 months baby with the virus, the youngest victim in US. The whole family is under quarantine at home.

In other news, some churches did have their Sunday services as "drive through". ie. similar as drive through movie. Church members sat in their vehicles while the pastor/preacher did the sermon via loud speakers. Maybe they would bring back drive through movie theater, I never been to one.

So some asshole in my city just got back from Florida and he runs a delivery business (food and medication!) and didn't self quarantine. Got called out on Facebook and he does not even care at all. So yeah, not ordering any take out for the next 14 days or so.

He's being grilled hard on Facebook and has already been reported to the proper authorities.

"Reported" for what? How is Florida any different from the next town over from a quarantine perspective? I haven't heard of Florida as any particular hot spot.

Surely 12 days ago was before your town locked anything down, right?

I didn't see anything there about self quarantining for 14 days after travel, much less from Florida. Just saw a vague mention of "travel restrictions," which isn't exactly the same thing and likely happened after his return (else he wouldn't have been able to return and go to work, no?). 12 days is practically 2 weeks anyway.

Though I do wonder if a delivery driver falls under essential services as there is an exception for that when it comes to the 14 day self quarantine... I would not think so but it might potentially be his defense.

I wouldn't go using supplemental oxygen without a physician's advice. There are dangers with too much oxygen.

3 confirmed in Erie Co. PA now. Local news talked with one of them on the phone & so far says he feels fine. He's in his 20s. They said the other two were also young but didn't give an age range or if they're home or in hospital.
They figure 2 were infected while traveling & the guy they talked to on the phone was in contact with one of them.

I'm hearing from guys at work about local people traveling because of cheap air fares, one to NYC last week. I can't confirm this but it wouldn't surprise me either.

Bars and night clubs still open in Wichita if you really need a fix for clubbing. Well there are a few other states besides Kansas with open bars but I can't find any as cool as Kansas. I'm in San Diego CA where I live and want to get out of here for a few days to go clubbing.

So legally someone can get on a commercial plane and fly from California to Kansas, right? I mean are they going to stop a person at the airport here in San Diego and prevent them from going on board to Kansas for the purpose of a sightseeing vacation?

I have money, I'm retired and I can't even be permitted to hop on a plane to Wichita? Idk the answer and I don't want to wind up in the news if I go to the airport to find out. It's stay-at-home orders but no articles about people flying from San Diego to Kansas for pleasure and not business.

edit - And don't want to go into a 2 week isolation on my return flight. So not going to fly outside the US where there are still some wide open night clubs.

heads up. Saw a NY Times article that’s said a significant % of infected folks had loss of taste and smell (without necessarily having clogged sinuses) as a symptom. For many who had these symptoms they ended up with a mild case.

I saw something about that type church service the other night & about drive-in movies might be more popular soon. We used to go to those a lot when we were younger.

Would love a resurgence of drive ins. I grew up about 2 miles from a drive in and went frequently as a child. Loved it.
