I didn't call anyone any name or used insult in my original post as he attacked me for no reason.

CZero and Wilco had different opinions (see above in this page) but you don't see either of them called the other as "idiot", right? That's how to debate IMO.

If he quoted my post and said something like "hey Svnla, you are wrong about what you just said because.... a)....b)...and/or c)" then I would not have any problem with it.
You want people to spoon feed you why you're an idiot? lol

You guys are both the turds in the punch bowl that is this thread.

lol, come on in, the water's fine.

Again, this is how an idiot would reply.

My coworker's wife's family has been crushed by COVID19. Her aunt died, then her grandmother and now her father is in the hospital with it. All of them live in Miami area.

Well 120K cases today. Real infections are probably 4 to 5 times that.

Keep hearing stories about people contracting at family gatherings. I think that's driving the spread now far more than anything so reclosings are likely of limited value in places the high spread venues are already shut or dramatically limited in capacity. Closing down retail or stuff like that isn't going to help a lot. People need to mask up, stop gathering, and take the recommended precautions.

I sure hope we don't end up having tons of restrictions on Christmas and not even being able to see family. People need to start thinking about that and reduce going out as much as possible.

Let get back on topic, MN is in trouble with the virus.

Several NFL teams are having issues. Hopefully it won't spread to other teams.

Toilet paper and paper towels could be out again ,especially during the holiday season?

Yep, already started stocking the shelves with essentials, they got me on the bidet tho, not buying one of those

Meh, I think we need to tone down our tradition obsessed culture anyways, not exactly thrilled about it being this way. But, I think people should just accept that the norms won't be happening in many places. My family and wife's have been, because we want each to survive. It's all about biding time to the vaccine.

Honestly, I'm more than happy to have a good excuse not to be around certain members of my family especially this year. I have to work Turkey Day, X-mas/eve, and NYE/NYD as well, so I get paid to have a good excuse not to deal with that shit!

I’ll miss our family gatherings. I get along very my family and my in-laws. Plus my nephew is in a serious relationship with a nice young woman who I haven’t met yet. Not seeing my nieces and nephews has been the hardest part of COVID.

I used Covid as convenient excuse not to host family/relative annual Christmas party this year. It was our turn to host and I rather not deal with the headache or the potential virus risk. So I recommended we cancel this year and retry next year. Everyone agreed, but I'm wondering if people were secretly glad the party was canceled because they didn't want to come anyway.

Heh... they're probably tired of listening to you gloat about your Tesla stock gains anyway

Here in Connecticut, visiting relatives for Thanksgiving and Christmas is basically cancelled. They aren't letting people travel outside the state without having to quarantine for two weeks or taking a COVID test after you get back.

MA is the same. Probably just gonna ask relatives to either forego gifts, or do gift cards this year. Foregone gifts is fine with me

This is good news, although Trump fans are probably wondering why they didn't announce preliminary results two weeks earlier:

Interesting tho, 2 dose schedule and 28 days to effectiveness. Can I assume it's like any other vaccine and you should be symptom free while going thru inoculation? I'm not "poo poo-ing" it at all, just curious what to expect

As above but different link. This is good news. Appears it is based upon two shots. Second shot seems to give near immediate results

Apparently 90% effectiveness is virtually unheard of.

DSMB told the company Sunday afternoon. Nothing nefarious going on.

Though I see they (campaign) are trying to take credit now. Pfizer didn't take any R&D money from the government, did it all themselves. The government just wrote a contract for doses if it worked.

Oh YES! Hallelujah! I woke up at 4 am this morning to check the stock premarket and then went back to sleep. I just woke up now to check the news and saw the awesome news about the Pfizer vaccine! YES! YES! YES!

There's a light at the end of this tunnel. Biden wins and Trump is kicked out and we get an highly effective vaccine! What a glorious day for America and the world! I might be able to travel again.

Thank God! I know this is preliminary, partially unblinded data, but damn, this is awesome news! 90% is a game changer. More people will likely receive the vaccine given the efficacy (rather than waiting for something better). This is high enough too limit the community spread by anti-vaxxers. I have so much more hope that we can cripple this virus over the next 12-18 months. We won’t eliminate it, but we will be able to return to a largely normal life and get our economy moving again.

I really appreciate the talent and hard work of the medical doctors and scientists who lead the charge here!
