Gots mah first COVID shot today. Setup a follow-up for my 2nd shot 3-weeks from now.

It was a Pfizer.

I'm about 6 hours in from getting the shot - Arm doesn't even hurt surprisingly. I got more pain out of the last Tdap (Tetanus) vaccine I took.

At the rate things are going here in Canada I don't think I will be getting one this year lol.

I originally wanted to wait as long as possible anyway, JUST in case there may be some delayed long term effects they don't know about or something which I highly doubt there will be but you never know I guess. My risk of getting covid is slim to none given where I live and fact I rarely travel, but I still want to eventually get the vaccine in case I do travel at some point. So yeah once it's available I think I will go ahead and get it as I may not get another chance.

They are also looking into only giving people 1 dose of even 2 dose vaccines to try to make the supply go further and cover more people. Not sure how wise that is long term as it still means we won't be immunized as good as other countries, but short term maybe it is the better solution.

My workplace also said they will be offering free days off for people who want to get it, so not sure how that will work or if it will apply to my department (we work shifts so we already get lot of time off) but if it does apply I may as well take advantage of it and get a free day off out of it.

Nah, but it might be awhile. The Feds bought way more capacity than the US needs so at some point they will give it away or sell it to other countries. Canada makes a ton of sense given how close it is.

My wife had that one, she was slightly sore the next day but it passed by dinner time.

Published studies (see here and here) and surveys conducted by patient groups indicate that 50% to 80% of patients continue to have bothersome symptoms three months after the onset of COVID-19 — even after tests no longer detect virus in their body.
The above quoted from this page:

POSTED OCTOBER 15, 2020, 2:30 PM , UPDATED MARCH 01, 2021, 1:02 PM

Which lingering symptoms are common?
The most common symptoms are fatigue, body aches, shortness of breath, difficulty concentrating, inability to exercise, headache, and difficulty sleeping. Since COVID-19 is a new disease that first appeared in December 2019, we have no information on long-term recovery rates.

Currently, we can’t accurately predict who will become a long hauler. As an article in Science notes, people only mildly affected by COVID-19 still can have lingering symptoms, and people who were severely ill can be back to normal two months later.

Am watching a story on NBC affiliate San Francisco, and Stanford researcher is saying they are seeing that 66% of covid patients, even who are asymptomatic, are experiencing lingering multifaceted health issues 4 months plus later. They go on to say some 80% of those who are hospitalized with covid-19 suffer lingering effects.

Only the uninformed and fools take this lightly.

This is why I suspect I had it in Nov. 2019. Knocked down for two weeks, which was the "rock bottom", but in January 2020, I was dealing with some severe fatigue. "Tunnel vision concentration" in which I focus one thing and one thing only, and it was a struggle.

So, I might have had it twice but simply can't confirm the first infection.

Almost 72 hours after Pfizer dose #2 I'm feeling 100% back to normal. I felt pretty much normal last night as well but this morning after a decent sleep I feel fine.
I'm feeling pretty normal now, 46 hours after Moderna #2. Was running fever for around 8 hours yesterday that reached 100.8F briefly. Was low energy, stayed in bed most of day. No fever now, slept fine last night. I may skate today. The weather's fine for it. I figure in a week or two I'm maximum protected.

Did some reading online last night about covid long-haulers. I think most people don't know how concerning that is. Glad I never caught this virus. The fact that my shot #2 reaction was way more intense than shot #1 (except that the arm pain was less) is proof that I didn't have any antibodies before shot #1, a very good thing. I figured, because my protocols have been very strict.

Has Bill Gates contacted you with further instructions yet?

I went too the gym this morning and did a normal workout and I felt normal so all is well on my end now. I say go for the skate if you feel okay.

Before the "long haulers" was coined, I read a few Facebook posts from people who were infected last April. Their posts got shared by some of my friends. I was reading about this lady in her 30s that lives in the Midwest. Basically, she took pictures of her hands and feet and had posts from April-October showing continued symptoms and energy drain. In those cases, people's bodies have an autoimmune reaction to covid and their immune system is fighting its own organs. Those with autoimmune disorders likely are the most at-risk...alternatively, those on immunodepressants may be in better shape initially to fight and tell their immune systems to chill out.

My wife/parents have been jabbed...so at least I don't worry about them. I'm concerned about myself and my youngish kids. We're getting vaccinated ASAP and avoiding crowds/confined spaces as much as possible until that's a reality.

No vaccine for me as of yet unfortunately ... I was able to secure an appointment but not until April 11th.

Still at least its a light at the end of the tunnel! Looking forward to a few days in Maine visiting my daughter @ school after I get it.

Keep looking for an appointment prior to your Apr. 11. You can always cancel that. I think chances are you can find an earlier one. My 1st shot, I was alerted to the program on a listserve I'm subscribed to about an hour before I went to get it! Filled out the application online, including scanning my provider ID card.

I saw more than one testimonial yesterday from long haulers to the effect that getting vaccinated relieved or eliminated their long hauler symptoms!!!

This is a really good video on long haulers. I just rewatched it and recommend it highly:

I find it fascinating that just the spike protein can cause symptoms.

I also have submitted myself to a research study. My genes will be sent to a lab for them to look for biomarkers.
They will not tell me the specific results. (Of course compensation was an incentive, however meager it is).

Study will be completed in 2025.

Exactly what I have been doing however I'm not really feeling the pressure ... made it this far a few more weeks won't kill me. (hopefully)

Will report back if I have any luck.
