One of my kids is coughing enough to infect half the state and I am about convinced she will cover her mouth over her own dead body so good luck to me.
Don`t forget the sloppy french kisses.....Did you guys make sure to squeeze 20 people into a conference room designed for 12 people and shake hands with eachother afterwards?
While I agree that many medical facilities will be overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients, I expect the results of triage to be the opposite of what you laid out here: the worst cases will get beds, while the young will be given some cold/flu medicine and sent home.
Italy recently released a set of COVID guidelines aimed at addressing resource allocation in times of severe demand and lack of supply. This is the first time I have seen guidelines in a first world country suggest that older patients (who have survivable illness) are not considered for intubation and ventilation in order to allow capacity to treat younger patients.
This is an incredibly bleak situation - our thoughts and prayers are with our Italian colleagues - but it may only be a week or two until we are in the same ship.
From an AMA with a UK Critical Care Dr on Reddit today:
But don't worry it is just a bad flu.
Considering all the high-ups - Congressmen.... etc.... that have not been infected... It's pretty clear that were fucked. This isn't going to be contained.
I might just lock myself in my apartment until this is all over in a year or two.
You big pussy. So what if your blood pressure is above 140 right now. Drink some hibiscus tea, and I'll guarantee your BP drops 10-15 points the next time you measure it.pretty sure i am going to die from this
hypertension has been a big factor in mortality rate, and i haven't been able to get my BP under 140 since i started worrying about this
just trying to finalize all my legal documents before i catch it

You're still not going to die. 140 won't kill you. Drink hibiscus tea. I tested it. It works.no i mean 140 is as low as i can get it period, it's been bouncing between 140 and 150 lately
i will try some of that tea though, it sounds good. might as well eat good for what could be my last meal.
lol.... Airlines are so fucking cute.
So I thought for a few minutes "Eh, what If I flew for a quick enjoyable trip eh? Will probably be mostly empty, overall cheap flights, etc..."
So Indiannapolis is a place I've been contemplated going to - searched on Southwest and they still want $100+ for each segment (so $200+ for a round trip). Hahaahahahahha you're fucking funny silly airlines.
How do we know whose infected or not? I go to the store and Im like "does she have it?" Or, "what about that person?"
Call me crazy but I don't care. Do you really want to put your immune system to the test with this virus?

Just got told mine's moving to online only as well. Waiting to hear if us lowly staff are going to be WFH or if we're just destined to cross-infect each other.A growing number of universities (Princeton, Stanford, Rice, Columbia, Berkeley, Ohio state) have canceled in person classes. Boarder security companies are doing brisk business to increase VPN licensing and vm appliance sales to handle additional bandwidth need.
Shit.
Coronavirus: Sacramento County Gives Up On Automatic 14-Day Quarantines
The California county includes the hospital that treated the first known U.S. case of community spread of COVID-19, which went undiagnosed for days because of problems with the U.S. testing program.www.npr.org
Sacramento no longer trying to actually contain the virus, now focusing on triage techniques.
Quarantines should be accelerated, not slowed down or ended.
From the article:what the shit, the article says they only have about 10 cases. how can they be overwhelmed already? who is in charge there they are screwin up!
i really really wish i could do that
To me, that means staying home. No gym, hiatus from my DJ gig. I'm going to consider that, maybe should right now, but I'm planning to do my radio show tomorrow. They say they have hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes (never heard of them before, will see what they are) to wipe down the air studio before your show. Gonna use those, try to remember to NOT TOUCH MY FACE until I get home and wash my hands.Just stay safe. You're in the dangerous range for those that catch it.
Well, they're saying that the symptoms are the result of your immune system kicking in, not the action of the virus. The virus may be ravaging your body, but if your immune system isn't kicking in, you're not gonna feel ill... well, not until you are getting ravaged, say sepsis or organ failure. I may be wrong here. Maybe not.I don't QUITE buy that though. You're saying that if someone is a carrier of a virus that the virus is (secretly) doing more harm than to someone with symptoms? What is it doing that warrants the claim that the person that doesn't get sick often has a weaker immune system?
