Would have thought maybe they turned them off (maybe to stop tracking if they leave their house?), never considered they may have died. Sad if that's the case.
Bloomberg is reporting that as China opens up manufacturing a second wave of infection is hitting.
Who could have predicted such a thing?

It appears my sarcasm was too subtle.Osterholm predicted this in his interview with Joe Rogan

I don't know, I don't care for Rogan's podcast so I didn't listen.Without rewatching the podcast didn't Osterholm also say this is likely a 7 month affair? and IIRC the 6ft social distancing isn't adequate... should be more like 14ft
21 million cell phones in China have gone dormant during the outbreak.
Chinese use their phones for EVERYTHING. Chinese can't buy anything in lock-down without their phone (and you almost couldn't buy most things without your phone even during normal times). The dormant accounts also show unspent balances.
A lot of those people are dead.

I'm shocked!Credit due where credit is due:
They're saying what I was saying: the testing debacle in the USA comes from decades of bad policy at the CDC and FDA.
I've been cautious not to make that insinuation but it has been pointed out to me that the major carriers in China typically just don't have losses, and extra lines are difficult due to it being tied to your National ID. Because your phone is your wallet there (even in rural markets or roadside shops) that's pretty significant. People typically don't just leave the economy without dying.I love how we are now equating dead cell phones with dead people. The misinformation never ends. I dont really blame you guys though, we really have nothing else better to do right now.
I've been cautious not to make that insinuation but it has been pointed out to me that the major carriers in China have never reported a month-to-month decrease in subscribers since the economic boom started decades ago and suddenly all of them have had major drops. Because your phone is your wallet there (even in rural markets or roadside shops) that's pretty significant. People typically don't just leave the economy without dying.
...but you're right: We can speculate but don't assume. Maybe many of those people are stuck outside of the country due to travel bans... I dunno.
Yeah. Been subscribed to him for years. Bought the mask I'm wearing at work right now back in January because of his inside information with SerpentZA.I google'd the whole cell phone thing and ran into this YouTube. Not saying it's accurate, not conspiracy, etc... but definitely some interesting stuff in here... In particular the part of hiring people to study these types of viruses shortly before the outbreak:
All of the restaurants around here are doing their best to drum up business. They have sighs or marque boards to notify the public that they are still open via drive through, delivery, and pick up. The upper class Tex Mex place has several sights outside about $6 lunch plate pick up. Never saw a price that low from that place. I will try to pick one or two soon.
Oh and most of the Waffle House places around here are closed. So strange that they are closed because they seem to open all the times.
Coronavirus in NY: Cuomo says quarantine may have backfired in some cases
By Geoff Herbert | gherbert@syracuse.com
“We are all in quarantine," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said last Friday, ordering all non-essential workers in New York state to stay home to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Nearly a week later, Cuomo is expressing some doubt on whether the statewide shutdown was the most effective strategy. He now says it might have backfired in some cases.
“We closed everything down. That was our public health strategy,” Cuomo told reporters Thursday at an Albany press briefing. “If you re-thought that or had time to analyze that public health strategy, I don’t know that you would say ‘Quarantine everyone.'”
“I don’t even know that that was the best public health policy. Young people then quarantined with older people, (it) was probably not the best public health strategy,” he continued. “The younger people could have been exposing the older people to an infection.”
New York has become America’s epicenter for the COVID-19 pandemic, with more than 39,000 cases confirmed in the Empire State. That’s nearly half of all coronavirus cases in the U.S., which now has more than any other country, including China.
Cuomo’s office told The New York Post that the governor was referencing a study by Yale professor Dr. David Katz, who made similar comments in a column for The New York Times last week. Cuomo also referred to Katz’s theory of risk stratification on Monday.
“Isolate people but really isolate the vulnerable people. Don’t isolate everyone because some people, most people, are not vulnerable to it," Cuomo said Monday. “And if you isolate all people you may be actually exposing the more vulnerable people by bringing in a person who is healthier and stronger and who may have been exposed to the virus.”
Cuomo said he expects the state will need 30,000 ventilators and more than 140,000 hospital beds when the coronavirus pandemic peaks in 2-3 weeks. Cuomo said Wednesday that cases are doubling every 4.7 days in the state; NBC reports 20 percent of COVID-19 patients require hospitalization and 6 percent have critical illness, including respiratory failure.
Talk about victim-blaming. The "advice" he ignored is the same advice you reject.Looks like I was right and our idiot governor is now having second thoughts about his banal PAUSE scheme. Like I said, if you have underlying issues or have one foot in the grave, self-isolate. the rest of us should go on as usual. On another note, my tennis buddy got the Chinese virus. He's only 25 but said he was an idiot and ignored all the warnings. Now he's got a bad fever, aching joints and muscles, sore lungs. He went to a hospital, they confirmed he was carrying the virus, and sent him back home. He said the only thing keeping him alive is Uber eats. This Chinese virus is kicking his ass, someone I used to respect. He's weaker than I thought. It all sounds so terrible but he has some nice tennis rackets and his girlfriend keeps her hair just the way I like...

I don't know who Osterholm is but when a population is exposed to a novel virus there is little to no resistance from reinfection when it's as contagious as COVID-19. Three or maybe more rounds should be expected.Without rewatching the podcast didn't Osterholm also say this is likely a 7 month affair? and IIRC the 6ft social distancing isn't adequate... should be more like 14ft
Well, cell phone service is extremely cheap there becauseYes all we can do is speculate. To me, when someone says 21 million cell phones disconnected, that just tells me 21 million cell phone users cancelled their cell service. They just plain couldnt pay for it or decided not to. With all the economic hardship happening, that makes perfect sense to me. Its the simplest answer. Also the most logical. and also the most boring.
Its more exciting to imagine 210 million infected and 21 million dead people in China? I guess... Gives us something to talk about today besides toilet paper and bottled water.
WTF are you talking about? I asked him what he meant by being an 'idiot' but he wouldn't elaborate other than say he ignored all the advice. The only obvious one I can think of is not washing your hands frequently. But I really want to know how he got this thing cause I saw him last week and he said he went to the hospital on Monday. I ran Tuesday and Thursday this week with no trouble. I plan on running tomorrow evening as well. He's 25 and I'm 37. If he falls because of this virus I won't be happy.Talk about victim-blaming. The "advice" he ignored is the same advice you reject.
Oh, but he's garbage because he's weak. You only used to like him because you didn't know how weak he was. Pfft.
