Nonchalant cashier as he is getting robbed

Apparently he didn't even notice that the gun was jammed.

"He walked in like a normal customer and proceeded to order a sandwich and asked what kind of cheese we have and what type of chips,” Murray recalled.

Then he pulled a gun out of his hoodie.

Murray says he was both amused and disgusted, but not scared.

Murray has a gun himself. He didn't notice that the slide didn't engage properly, he just got a vibe.

"I never really felt threatened,” Murray said. “I've been saying that all day and it feels like something stupid to say when there's a gun pointed at your head, but I never really got the feeling that he was actually going to do anything."

As for the gun to his head, he said the robber was clearly getting aggravated that he wasn't flustered.

When a detective told Murray today that the man arrested had a history of armed robberies, had served time, and was on parole, Murray said he “was actually really surprised, because it seemed like it was his first time."

The police arrested 54-year-old Terry Rayford, who was charged today in federal court with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Court documents say police stopped him as a suspect in the robbery and found two guns in his car. Rayford told them he stole the guns from his crack dealer, who he owed money to, so that he could do a robbery and settle the debt.

He was on parole for a 2008 robbery and told police he was considering violating parole so he could go back to prison, because following the conditions of his parole was hard.

That says a lot about our society. /P&N.

I've had a hell of a time with finding employment and on every app it always asks if I have a criminal record. Considering how challenging it has been for me in even getting an interview, I truly cannot even imagine how hard it must be to try to make a legitimate living after having a run in with the law.

Well if he was wrong about the robber wanting to pull the trigger, it's not like he would've cared what anyone thinks from 6ft under.

Being jaded is never a good thing.

I would have been been pretty relaxed too if someone was trying to rob me with a jammed gun. You can see that the round isn't in the chamber. I would have ran out the back door once I realized he couldn't shoot me in the back.

I wouldn't have cared if the gun was jammed or not, I'd still give him the money. First of all, it's not my money. Secondly, I am damn sure not betting my life on the guess that he can't clear the jam and isn't willing to shoot me. Besides, I guarantee that his work policy is just to give them the money. My wife works at a bank and their policy is to basically give anyone the money regardless if they see a weapon or not.

Yup. If they want you to protect their money from armed robbers they need to pay you a fuck ton more, give you the means to protect yourselve and give you a load of legal cover!

I'm not saying anything about protecting the money. I'm saying that if you have the opportunity to do something to protect yourself, then you should do it. Handing over the money and simply waiting for him to leave means that you are letting him decide if you live or die that day. I would absolutely give him anything he wanted if I had no other options.

You got X-ray vision?

Cashier did the right thing, gave the money and act like it's a everyday happening and knowing that the video camera captured what happened.

Nope, just normal vision. Watch the video in full screen and look at the chamber, you can easily see that the gun is jammed and therefore no round is in the chamber. With that said, you are still correct regarding the employee's actions. Hell it could have been an airsoft gun that kind of looked real and I would have given up the dough. Like I said, not my (or his) money so I'm not putting myself in harms way to protect it.

Even if they did all of that, one innocent bystander caught in the crossfire would cost them more in civil suits than probably all of their robberies in the last 10 years. They get a couple hundred at best from those drawers if the cashiers are doing their jobs properly. Not to mention that trying to pull a gun that is on you or under the counter in a situation like that (assuming the guy didn't have a jammed gun) is a horrendously risky move since the bad guy already has the gun pointed at your head. Not a risk that I would take even if it was MY money.

Weird I have a criminal record and never had a problem finding work. Hell I had two jobs during the heart of the recession when everyone else was complaining they couldn't find work.

Now that I'm self employed it never comes up and since I have a couple dozen regular customers even if it did with one of them it wouldn't matter.

No, you'd probably wet yourself and beg for mercy.

For a person thinking clearly, if you see the gun won't fire, great. But remember the gun is not broken, it's temporarily disabled and can be cleared back to operating condition in a snap. Hand over the money, nice and calm and don't do anything to cause the robber to panic and pull the trigger. If you use the gun looking jammed as a get of jail free card and do something stupid it would take a second for the guy to pull the trigger, figure out something was wrong and clear the jam.

Yup as the ATOT resident tuff guy I wouldn't try anything, I'd do like this guy and give the robber the cash me assad stare. No counter in between probably but with a counter in between I'm not coordinated fast enough to risk it.

I've been robbed at gunpoint at work. Yes of course you're scared and yes I gave them all the money. No reason to risk myself over a measly job. This happened when I was 18yrs old working at Gamestop. They only got about $200.

I did have a close friend get murdered during a robbery. The robbers shot him because they said he was taking too long with the money. They shot him in around 45 seconds during the robbery and only got away with $350.
