are you using an extension cord? If so, then your cord is either too long or too wimpy.

I'm assuming that you're using a window A/C and not a central A/C because if your central a/c is blowing breakers then I'm surprised you're not complaining about how much it's going to cost to get it fixed.

no. i talked with my heating and AC expert. he said clean it out and told me how. so i took off the cover and sprayed it down and let it dry. I didn't see any mouse or poop in it.

i checked all wires and everything looked good.

I was going to swap out the breaker in the basement but noticed my box of extra's is missing. fucking contractor i had must of stolen them.

but i flipped the switch and its been working for a while...

As an easy test, turn off the breaker and check the ohms between the hot and neutral, or if it's a 240v unit between the two hots (the "off" side!). See if it's anything that would cause too many amps to be drawn. Or if it's completely dead short. Then you can check any junction box for loose wire or what not.

Though it could very well be something in the unit itself that's shorting out or just pulling more current than it should. But worth a shot before you call someone.

I've never seen a residential central ac unit that wasn't 240v.

i feel for you. i can't don't care for high humidity. The heat itself i can stand (well except this heat wave is insane) but i don't care for humidity.
