Question Noob needing help with basic setup

Hi all

Looking for some advice and help. Feeling a bit frustrated as the seller didn't provide any information. Just moved into a new house and there are two KEF CI130CR speakers built into the ceiling. There are these panels in the living room. It seems the left panel is for wall mounted TV installation and the right panel connects to the ceiling speakers.



It seems that the two ceiling speakers are setup in mono?

I'd like to connect my TV to a receiver that also has wifi or bluetooth to stream music.
I've been told a stereo receiver would be better given that I'm concerned with the sound quality and not having an AV setup.
Is this what would be recommended - and whichever receiver I get needs to have a mono mode, correct?

I think it should be fine if you have bluetooth/wifi streaming being handled by a Chromecast or a small bluetooth receiver plugged into your TV.
You can have the TV output to whatever stereo receiver, and I don't think it'll be a problem if you just have stereo run to the speakers, but if you're worried you can make it Mono by using a Y cable adapter, plug the single end into the Line Out for your receiver and then two RCAs to the speakers.

Take the wall plate off and see if you have 2 runs of speaker wire going to that connector. If you do then just spend $10 and install a different wall plate for stereo operation.

If you don't care about stereo operation then almost any receiver can operate at 4ohm per channel and that's more than likely how they're wired up. So it doesn't really matter what you buy for the most part.

I can't tell what those 2 circle plugs are for on the left side, but to me that looks like 2 banana plugs for 1 speaker and the on the right plate it looks like 2 more banana plugs for 1 speaker. The red/black colors on the right one would make me think it's for 1 speaker in stereo rather than 2 speakers in mono.

Also wtf does that random upside down HDMI port connect to?

There's probably a panel somewhere else in the room, perhaps where the TV itself will mount assuming what OP showed us is the panel for where an entertainment unit will be. Otherwise vice versa.
