We bought a new 32GB Nook HD+ when they first went on sale at B&N. Although the price was very good, I have to say it isn't that great of a device - at least when you compare it to the iPad2 and iPad3 we also have at the house. It was a bit laggy to begin with, and even though installing CM 10.1 on it has improved it somewhat, it still seems way more laggy than it should be.
Our unit also has a weird issue with the hardware where it will not charge when an AC outlet if the battery runs all the way out. For some reason it will charge if you plug it into a computer, so we have to plug it into a computer for 15 minutes, power it up, and then plug in the AC adapter. This was a very frustrating issue, and there were several reports of it in Nook forums (which is where I got the idea to plug it into a computer to get it working again).
At the end of the day, our Nook just doesn't get used very much. We have 5 people sharing an iPad3, iPad2, and the Nook, and no one wants to use the Nook very often. I'm usually the one who ends up using it, as I can tolerate it, but I have to say the user experience just isn't as good as the iPad. I will probably end up selling ours, and getting something that is more enjoyable to use. The specs looks good on paper, and the screen resolution is much higher than our old iPad2, but I'd rather use the iPad2.
