Nooo! My Logitech Z560s are broken!

I ordered these speakers from Newegg, figuring there wouldn't be any problems.

Unfortunately, the right front speaker output on the sub doesn't work. When I hook up a different speaker to the same output, there's still no sound. All the speakers work on the 3 other outputs, so I know the problem is with that specific output on the sub. Is there anything else I can try before sending the whole set back to Newegg? It's a big, heavy package, so shipping costs will be extreme.

I read dozens of reviews and user recommondations before selecting the Z560s. None of them mentioned a defective unit. Out of all these, WHY DO I GET THE LEMON??!? :| :|

Grrrrr.

interesting. why didn't you get it from Dell like everyone else here? well, everyone else except me. good luck to ya on them. i also hear they are good.

I know that when I had a problem w/ sounds it was the driver settings in my Santa Cruz card. I had set it for digital something or other (not on the computer right now so I can't tell you what it was), but when I went to plain-vanilla 4.1 it worked just fine. I really hope you didn't get a bum set.

DUDE! I have the exact same problem that you are having right now and it PISSES ME OFF!!!! These are the second set of z560s that I have gotten that are defective! Either I have really bad luck or Logitech is shipping up poorly manufactured CRAP! ARRRRRRRRRGH! I already spend 16 dollars to ship it back the first time because they wouldn't agree to pay for the shipping, and not to mention the 3 hours I spent on the phone LONG DISTANCE with them. If I could get my money back I would but it'll cost me another 40 to ship back to the place I ordered from because these things are so heavy. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I GET ANYTHING FROM LOGITECH!!! ARRRGH THEY HAVE SUCH POOOOOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

I would just check the port by taking it apart. What ever is broken should be able to be fixed cheaper than sending it back.

I haven't gotten a replacement set from Newegg yet, but we'll see if it works properly or not.

LoqT, what sound card were you using? Was the left/right balance correct using headphones plugged into the control unit?

I'm using a Aureal SQ2500, with dual output, but i've tried it with a signal splitter and my minidisc player and everything. Though it seems that when I put pressure on the top of the sub sometimes it'll have output. There is output however it is VERY VERY VERY light. I'm thinking about buying another set and CompUSA and just swapping the subs and returning it telling them it was defective, its alot easier that way then dealing with Logitech again, cuz I'm sure CompUSA just sends em back as defects anyways. This is pretty ridiculous though considering this is the second time that I have send it.

My Z560 just broke an hour ago. I got it from Dell, and have been using less than 4 hours--I tried it a bit two weeks ago when I first got it. I turned the volumn up about 75 %, and something just burnt inside the subwoofer. I smelt somethig burn and that's it. Well, after a great review, I have to learn the lemon by myself.

What is the RMA proccess for Logitech? Can you list the phone #s to call and how long it took, etc? Thanks. Mine still fuction, but I think something went wrong with the sub and it gives sort of a rattling sound and strong beats, which isn't that noticeable unles you listen for it, but it is annoying.

It might be port noise, which is not uncommon for ported subwoofers. I haven't noticed it on my Z560's (still breaking them in) but on my Klipsch ProMedias I did notice port noise (flutter) at higher volumes.

i just got my z560s.... no problems yet... cross fingers...

though i did think mine were busted... cuz i did not read the manual, and "fade" was turned all the way down... =\

--

one more thing though, I am going to replace these cheap ass speaker wires =)

what kind of speaker wire you gonna get?

i was thinking about getting better quality but i'm not sure what kind would suit best.

Hey Guys,

Just got my Z560's a couple of days ago and I'm noticing like this feedback noise from the sub when it's turn off. Is anybody else getting that same noise?

I just got a working set from Provantage.com. WOW, these speakers sound good!

Bongolo, I get the same sound.

My Z560's have the exact same problem as the ones described above. The right front speaker is playing something but at a very low volume compared to the left front. I don't see how it would be playing quietly. I would think it would be playing regular or not at all. Anyone have any thoughts? They worked great for 2 weeks until this happened. Well, congrats PaveLow on finally getting it from newegg.

I have 2 friends with Z560s,both have had to get them replaced. I think Logitech has a very BIG quality control problem! After their problems,I sprang for the Klipsch 5.1 system.

Provantage(.com) is a great company for returns. They pay for defective product shipping back to them. (which i've come across about 5% of the time) They also reimburse the original shipping paid if you decide to return instead of getting a replacement. (I've never, until now, come across a company that does this)

They rock my World!
