Man, alot of love for ON here. Based on price I think I will try it out when I run out of my current stash of Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder. I buy it because it is $16 for 2 pounds. I can make the leap to $26 for 2 pounds of ON. Some of the stuff people buy is just way out of my budget. I can't be buying 2 pounds of whey for $50.

Plenty of better tasting brands than ON, but not necessarily cheaper.

I like stuff by Trutein. Trutein Cinnabun and pumpkin pie both taste amazing mixed into oatmeal, GY or cottage cheese. Dymatize makes a great cinnabun casein that I use in baking. I hear Cellucor makes an excellent tasting cinnamon bun flavor as well, but I've yet to try it.

Utilize SlickDeals. Set up a deal alert using keywords such as "casein" or "whey". You'll be stocked up with cheap protein in no time.

I've used Isopure for a long time. Many different flavors and I generally stick to the low carb line.

If I am slumming it then body fortress.

My needs may be a bit different though. I had a gastric bypass July 31st 2012

About 90% of the time I use ON because it mixes so easy in water, the other 10% of the time I like syntha-6 for the taste.

been buying designer whey for the past 5 or so years. love the flavor and it has less carbs than most. although they did change their taste a bit in the past year or so. it's still really good but i preferred the old recipe. just ordered 8lbs this morning.

i used designer for many yrs. It used to be economical, <30 bucks shipped for 5 #. Now it's like 40+ bucks shipped for 4 #

yea it's gone up a few bucks. think i pay like $37 for 4lbs ones. i usually buy 2-3 at once though and shipping is like $6 and i get it the next day, so it's fine with me. i'll gladly pay for quality though.

it's a decent quality protein, but it is based on a concentrate, which is a not an overly high %-age protein. When I bought it I mainly bought it because it was the protein I felt tasted the best.

just in comparison to some of the protein I use

18 grams per 26 gram serving which is not even 70% protein. so you are getting 1# of filler/other in each tub

compare that to the VP2 I use.
23 grams per 28 gram serving which is over 82% protein

or to ON 100% whey
24 grams per 31 gram serving which is over 77% protein

by quality i was referring to quality of taste. as i'm drinking 3 shakes a day on average, i'll gladly take the ones that taste better over the ones that taste like crap.

i definitely would be open to trying new brands though.

I am just a Crossfit noob (Thats for Zivic) , but i normally just use protein once a day within 15 mins of working out. I currently am doing crossfit 5 days a week, should i be using more?

I need to get my diet dailed in a bit to, do most people eat prior to working out or after?

You don't need to be having whey at any particular time and you would be fine with 1.8g/kg/day. I'd recommend getting your protein from minimally processed food sources over highly processed powders, but that's my opinion. Meal timing is a matter of preference and has little effect on body composition, but use common sense. A large meal immediately before a workout is probably not the brightest idea.

I buy this stuff:

But I think it's disgusting.

On the other hand, the GNC Wheybolic, which apparently is manufactured by ON is delicious. I don't know why one tastes so good and the other is nasty.

I get this stuff at Costco. I like it.

That was my first bag of protein, cheap enough but i didn't like not-to-my-liking taste and bad solubility. Always ended up with clumps of protein no matter how hard or long i shook it.
