Excellent CD, and it's good to see that she was honored at the Grammys for her musical talents.

So many of todays so-called "artists" only succeed due to excessive production assistance (assuring that their live performances will suck) or based on looks.

There's another jazz artist that I like a lot. Her name is Patricia Barber. I'm sure she would've been as successful or more so than Norah if she was young and looked like Norah Jones. I definitely think that looks have something to do with success.

BTW.. Bestbuy.com currently has her cd for .10¢ more at $9.99 with free shipping. You do have to pay sales tax though.

Oh... I forgot to mention that I already bought this album a couple of months ago. It was $26.99 plus shipping, but it was worth it to me get it in 200G vinyl.

I'd say hotter in many ways. Brittany, as hot as she is, reminds me of a Pamela Andersen in training.

There is a certain "mock" jazz sound to her CD. A sort of "Jazzy FM" type of Jazz. Targeted for the crossover NPR crowd.

Jane Monheit is another great young female jazz artist. Her most recent album (which I don't yet own) is supposedly a bit more pop-based, but her previous two albums are quite nice.

And yes, Norah Jones is excellent as well.

I always thought Jane Monheit was a classical singer when I saw her stuff at Borders. But then I saw a video playing in the Target electronics section and was blown away by this jazz song. This was last fall. I wound up with some coupons for CDs at Target and went back but wasn't sure what CD it was from, so I bought Norah Jones' CD. Although I liked the jazz song on the radio, I was a tad disappointed that most of the release was more "pop". Not lollipop pop, but singer-songwriter pop. I was in the mood for jazz at the time. Still am, so I'll go back and get a Monheit CD. Norah grew on me qickly, though. . .very talented, very modest. Glad to hear she won a few awards.

You know, I was about to say no, but I'm glad I did some research. I saw the Amazon review where the guy talks about Anoushka and Norah being sisters. Now click on "family and friends," then click on the second picture and you will Anoushka and Norah together and the caption says that they are half-sisters. Also check out the fourth one where they get tattoos together, and an interesting one is Anoushka with Sting.

It amazes me when some people try to argue against an artist's popular success. Now, I'm not casting a vote one way or the other here for Norah Jones, but the indisputable fact is that she is a widespread success. A success is a success is a success - how on earth do you think you can argue against that?!?! And if you take the stance that she doesn't deserve that success then you are just being self-centered. The bottom line is that if millions of people love an artist's work, then that artist is doing a good job - period. My 2 cents...

Good deal for the cd but how in the world does she win best album when all she has is one hit on it. As much as I hate the guy Eminem had 3 or 4 #1 songs off of his album. This is why no one cares about winning a Grammy. The only real music award show out there is the MTV video music awards. I mean what like 10 years ago they gave Jethro Tull best Heavy Metal artist over Metallica, since when is Jethro Tull Heavy Metal?. Get Real. The Grammies is the most useless award show in the world next to the Oscars. Norah isn't my type of music but obviously people like her, so more power to her. This is a gripe against the Grammy's for having absolutely no vision and always going with artists who have a better presentation or image instead of who actually deserves it.
