If you WANT to quit smoking but are having trouble, I can highly recommend something that will take the edge off much better and faster than anything else you've ever tried. Nicorette nasal spray. Actually, the prescription version is called Nicotrol Nasal spray but I get mine from the UK where it's available over the counter. PM me and I can tell you how to go about it.
It's absorbed directly through the sensory epitheleum in your sinuses which have a direct path to your brain. It's not as fast as the hit you get from smoking but it does kick in pretty quickly with a peak in about 10-15 minutes. You can feel when the blood nico level starts to drop and then you take another hit so you can ride one wave to the next. It's very effective.
The only downside is that it comes in a weak hydrochloric acid base so it stings a little but you get used to that. Personally I sort of like it but I'm a bit of a masochist. It will definitely clear out your sinuses so keep some tissues handy.
Keep in mind though that initially you'll still have some minor cravings since there are other chemicals in cigarette smoke that mimic neurotransmitters. Nicotine is the big one but you're going to notice the absence of the other initially. That will pass in a couple of days though and the jonesing is nothing like nicotine w/drawal. It's a minor annoyance at best as long as you know what to expect.
Combine the nasal spray with a lozenge or some gum and you're cruising. But be careful. I've managed to give myself nicotine poisoning a few times from overdoing it. That's a real issue with the nasal spray because of the delayed reaction. If you've waited too long to take a hit, don't take 3 or 4 because you WILL OD. If you've never had nico poisoning, it's an experience you NEVER ever want to have.
