GTX 590 with dual GF110 due in February...

GeForce GTX 590 is the confirmed name of NVIDIA's coming graphics card flagship. With dual GF110 GPUs the beafy graphics card will offer 1024 CUDA cores and 3GB memory. Perhaps the most exciting is that the launch is set for February, in the same timeframe as AMD Radeon HD 6990 is expected to arrive.

NVIDIA's Fermi architecture have gone from being a laugh in 2009 to being the father of a very respectable graphics card family that boasts the fastest single-GPU graphics card around - GeForce GTX 580.

The company is on a roll now and is expected to follow up the launch of GeForce GTX 560 Ti with a new flagship. The new graphics card comes with dual graphics circuits and according to reliable sources the name is set to GeForce GTX 590.

Looks like Nv will have the fastest dual GPU as well. Although price, power consumption will likely weigh heavily on that privilege.

Nvidia really turned around the Fermi architecture. AMD must still be cursing the supply constraints during the 5800 series' prime. Glad to see the competition.

Can you name a time when you couldnt get a 5870/5850 on a major e-tailer site? The first 2-3 weeks were slim, but after that, there was always one available. (5970 not included). I think limited supply is bogus, they sold a ton of 5XXX cards.

This dual card is going to be a monster, so is the AMD version. I bet nV takes the crown just because of how well GF110 overclocks.

Either way, I won't believe it till I see it. There aren't even pictures of engineering samples. There have been what? 4 dual GPU nV cards rumored for the last year and a half?

In any case. If nvidia do launch it with with dual 580s and clock them super low AMD can do the same. Seeing as 6900s scale better than GF110. I see this being very close. I'm not sure what the 3GB referrers to. If it 3GB total and 1.5gb per GPU Then the 590 might have a problem.

Can't wait to see this compares to the 6990's. With overclocking I wonder which will have more power in terms of watts consumed! Not that I really care about watts since I'm considering going for a second 6970 someday

If it can come close (or higher) in performance than GTX 570 SLI, then sign me up for one. However, I would probably wait for an aftermarket cooler, which for a dual-gpu card, could take months to happen. And yes, a 6GB card would be sweet.

Here's a question I don't think has been brought up: Can (1) GTX 590 do Nvidia Surround ? In theory it should because there are two GPUS, but in practice maybe it cannot, because all three inputs would be going to one card, which seems like something nobody can figure out.
