His son can't possibly be as crazy as him. Hopefully Il bites the dust soon and his son is able to take over without a major military coup attempt.

If someone in the military is able to take over instead of his son there won't be much hope for change.

President Lee Myung-bak ordered his military Tuesday to punish North Korea for its artillery attacks "through action," not just words, saying it is important to stop the communist regime from contemplating additional provocation.

"Reckless attacks on South Korean civilians are not tolerable, especially when South Korea is providing North Korea with humanitarian aid," the president said. "As for such attacks on civilians, a response beyond the rule of engagement is necessary. Our military should show this through action rather than an administrative response" such as statements or talks, he added.

South Korea needs to begin evacuating the population near the border to the north. Once everyone is out of N.K.'s artillery range, S.K. with the US should launch a large shock and awe military campaign against the north. Our superior technology should flatten the N.K. military within a few days. Reunite Korea and get rid of the insane communist in charge in the north, enough screwing around.

why not just launch a 100 or so nukes from submarines? evacuating will give them time to prepare

North Korea is rushing for nukes with some artillery harass. That's a really really ballsy move. I don"t know how they"re managing i since they're behind in economy for the entire game.

Meanwhile south Korea has scouted out this strat and is preparing for a conventional marine, navy, Airforce build. I wonder how they'll stop the fast tech to nukes without any harass. Why are they so hesitant to disrupt NK teching?

North America, for some reason is panicking even though it's only an observer

What is going on here folks, stay tuned for Asiacraft 2: Korean War 2.

this is impractical.

Seoul itself is within artillery range. that has always been an additional deterrent.
Shock and awe do not work well in mountain terrain.

why are we getting involved?

Gibbs said the White House "is in close and continuing contact" with the South Korean government.
"The United States is firmly committed to the defense of our ally, the Republic of Korea, and to the maintenance of regional peace and stability," he said.
Congressional Republicans and Democrats joined the administration in condemning the attack.
"As the people of the Republic of Korea question what new belligerent action may come from the North, they should not have any question that the people and forces of the United States stand ready as a devoted ally committed to the defense of their nation," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement. "I join the president in his strong condemnation of what is sadly just the latest in a long string of hostile actions. North Korea's neighbors should unite in condemning this attack."

If N.K. continues to attack, we will strike back with S.K. It's only a matter of time.

Nukes are pretty shockingly awesome regardless of terrain (from a military perspective at least)

Drop a nuke into a valley surrounded by 5K ridges and the next valley down will be protected by the blast pressure & heat wave. Radiation is a different story.

Nukes will work great where there is open area for the blast force to expand into. compressing it into a area will be similar to running a reactor; force is contained but deadly in the local containment area only.

The valley would be fucked (outside of radiation) due to pressure/heat/immediate radiation waves from an air burst.

Besides, we have enough to cover that country a few times over

nobody is using nukes put your dingdong back in your pants and relax.

I never said they were.

The question is not who would WIN the war, but what the result would be.

NK is pretty much just one giant army. their resources are so low thety actually cannot keep the country powered all at once (they have rolling brownouts). The people have no food.

You would think that teh people would be against this, but many think that they are suffering from what the nations around them are doing, not from their own psycho leader with the horrible fashion sense and sadistic tastes in military march styles.

ANYBODY starts a war with them and half of SK will be wiped out before a standoff is reached. There will be NO guarantee that Russian and/or China will not support NK either openly or under the table.

The only reason we went after Iraq instead of NK in the "axis of evil" is because we thought Iraq would be easy.

The fight was a breeze, it was the cleanuup afterward that is killing us now. Could you imagine how much $$ it would cost to get NK back on track IF "we" were to win?

This is a no win for all parties. I just hope Kim Joong is not illin' enough to actually pull something.

You are also forgetting SK are pussies and are not willing to fight anyway.

SK gov't will ship over food and oil and that will be that.
