Hmmm... because South Korea is an ally, they are one of our only friends in the region besides Japan, they're a thriving democracy, and they do a significant amount of trade with the US.

As for the South America comment...WTF? Name one country that has been sucessfully invaded by another country in South America (not counting border skirmishes) in the last, oh, lets say 100 years. Can't? Because it hasn't happened. There have been plenty of internal revoloutions, but no real invasions.

No, not very valid, because as a condition of the agreement helping them build two civilian nuclear reactor plants in 94 they promised to get rid of any military nuclear programs.

But the US did not agree to get rid of it in exchange for nuclear power plants.
