Temperature 40c (Idle) and 50c Max (running Prime95). I get 34c idle and 49c after 3hrs Prime95 with ASII and 3 35cfm case fans, 2.240@1.65v. If you can add a case fan in the front or back, (I got 35cfm 80mm fans from SVC for $2.95 each). That may get temps down 2-3c and save yourself lots of time cleaning HS and cpu for AS, when you try to go higher. Yes, 35 cfm fans are noisy, but don't "whine" like the 60mm deltas.

Edit: Link for SVC fans. I always see what else I might need to save on shipping cost of another order 3 weeks later. I got 4 35cfm fans, shipping was $4.35. (I don't work for them, just have had good dealings with them).

F155mph you are the first to post here that received a Costa Rica chip from googlegear. I was hoping that they were still shipping the Malay's.

I'll vouch for SVC too. They are the *only* guys to respond to my emails for tech help. They usually ship within a couple *hours* after ordering and a most of it comes USPS priority+dc ... so your not waiting 2 weeks on stupid UPS driving a truck across the country. Prices aren't all that bad too.

BTW: My *new* P4S333 + 1.6a + Antec 1040 (420psu) + PC2700 comes today. Oh and combine that with my new GF3 TI 200 that just arrived yesterday ... *droooooooool* ... That damn manager of mine better be around to sign for this stuff, or I'm going to be mighty dissapointed.

Running stable at 2.3 Ghz now (144 FSB)
Retail Cooling with some radio shack thermal grease
Ran prime95 for a couple hours

Asus P4S333
256 MB Samsung PC2100 @ CL2
AGI 250W Power Supply (I think this is whats keeping me from 2.4)

I also got a Costa Rica chip from Googlegear. Ordered it last Friday, got it Wednesday. I'm running at 2.2 at the moment on a P4B266, still at default Vcore(1.5)

Well things didn't start so great here. At first I could not get any o/c at all w/o lock ups in Windows XP. I tried everything. I then figured that things were not "clean" with Windows XP since I was migrating from an AMD platform to an Intel platform.

I did a new install of XP and she is running 16x150 2.4 Ghz at 1.575 w/o a glitch. She is running a tad warmer than I would like (47C idle 58C full load prime95) but the alpha I have on the way should alleviate that issue for me. I have run prime95 for about 6 hours at both 16x133 2.13Ghz @ 1.525 and at the above settings as well. I was also surfing the net and print some large documents whil running Prime95 so I think this is a keeper.

BTW my chip and board came from googlegear and it is a Costa Rican chip. I will shoot for more later.

FYI I am using an Asus P4b266 with USB 2.0 and onboard audio enabled with an Enermax 430W Power Supply. I also removed the pad from the stock hs/fan and am using AS3.

I will try to get chip markings for you when I install my new alpha on Monday. Many apologies as I forgot to write down the markings before I installed everything thursday night.

Thanks

Greg

I have a Enhance 350W power supply, but the 12v MBM5 reading is less that the Antec 300W that I have running a AMD Athlon. My 12v is 11.31v as I type, but 300W reads 12v or a little more, (not easy to set up and look right now). Maybe Athlon doesn't drag down 12v line? I can do 1.6a at 140 fsb, but need 1.65v to do it, can't get higher, but will admit ram could be the problem. I am wondering if 12v line and Vcore settings are related. I'm interested to see what Vcore people have and what the 12v MBM5 reading are. I will start new thread and see where it goes.

GCS,

So what batch did you get?

This is what I got:

SL668
3149A554
01/26/2002

I think I got an early chip from CR cause my batch numbers is lower then everybody else. Still waiting for my Giga-8SRX. Radeon 8500 backordered from Gateway. I also got two 256 PC2700 Kingmax. I am water cooling this chip, I wait to get 2.5 out of this thing.

About the mobo. I am piss!!!! Those people from MWave sucks, I order my board on 2-21-02 and I didn't no tracking or anything from them. So yesterday I decide to call them to see what is going on. When it turn out that my credit card got rejected because of an wrong exp date on it. I was like WTF, no one email or call me to let me know!!! Then I finally got an email from them saying my order was cancel cause the shipping address wasn't listed. I call AMEX myself to find out, and my shipping address was listed with them. I got an email from them finally with my tracking numbers, now I got to wait for slow ass UPS.

Sorry guys I had to vent.:disgust::|

flatbroke - i don't think the athlons use the 12V line, right now im running an enermax 451 (431 Watt) PSU and the reading is 12.20V in MBM5.107

i used the same PSU awhile back in my P4 1.6A system and the 12V was doing around 11.5~11.6

I received a Malay chip from M-Wave yesterday....I have it as high as 2.29, but it crashes sandra and 3dMark2001, and windows a few times.
....although that might be due to windows98, I dunno.

It might also be the Crucial DDR....although I am skeptical
because this RAM runs at 2.0-2-2 with the FSB at 140-142(as high as I have gone due to the instability)

Funny thing is, I could not get over 138 fsb....then I updated to the new BIOS (P4S333 by the way) and I could not get over
137 fsb!! So I updated the BIOS again, and now I am getting to 142 fsb, and hopefully higher.

The chip seems to be capable of high speeds, it is running at about 32c degrees, but somewthing is holding it back. I lapped the heatsink and used AC2. It is probably the RAM....but I am hoping it might be Win98SE. We shall see....

That's it! I'm definitely getting a 1.6a! How does this combo sound? I'm sold on the EPOX EP-4BDA2+ (intel 845D) motherboard and 256MB of mushkin pc2700. All I need to figure out is where to order the northwood.. From googlegear.com or newegg.com. I might just get it from googlegear.

Spydc,

That sounds like the exact setup I'm planning to get soon. Although I'm planning on getting my 4BDA without the RAID. So I must say, good taste in components.

Here's hoping for about 2.3-2.4Ghz with memory running at 190-200Mhz!!! Ahhh, that'd be heaven!

memory settings:CAS RAS# to CAS# RAS 2-2-2
precharge delay:5
CPU voltage(read from bios):1.42 memory voltage:2.6v stable at 137*16
CPU voltage(read from bios):1.45 memory voltage:2.6v stable at 140*16
CPU voltage(read from bios):1.49 memory voltage:2.7v stable at 145*16

i dont wanna boost too much core voltage,so i havent try 1.6v,haha

PS:what is Prime95?where to download it? We always use 3dmark2001 and superpi to test stablity
in China.

Prime95 Here
Install the version for your OS, it will then download some work, and then start crunching numbers to find a "prime" one. It raises the temp of your CPU by as much as 15c, so have some kind of temp. monitoring program, like Motherboard Monitor. See if you can keep your CPU temp in the lower 50c's or less under Prime95 load. You can find just about anything you need at Google

Thanks for the link!! I have been wanting to get that program...I even found that site, but I was
not sure it was the right one. Sweet!!

By the way, I have my 1.6a running stable at 142 FSB for the few hours I ran the Sandra Burn-in test...
with stock Crucial DDR timings. I did not test with the fastest timings...but I did at 140 fsb(current setting), and it is
tearin it up!! It seems that the longer I run it, the more it is capable of doing...

Spydc,

Newegg is the only place I've seen(at least that I trust) that has the 4BDA2+ even listed in inventory, and it seems they sold out of that and the regular 4BDA a few days ago. But Newegg is pretty good about restocking sold out items, so I wouldn't imagine it'd be more than a few business days.

Mwave has the regular 4BDA in stock, but I think I'd rather stick with newegg.

<rant mode>I just hope Newegg gets off their lazy butts and get some more Kingmax PC2700 stocked! It took weeks last time then they immediately sold out! While I'm on the subject, it better have some -05 chips on it as well!</rant mode>

flatbroke, prime95 moved my p4 1.8@2.4 (1.65v, actual 1.62-1.64v) w/ retail Hsf w/ thermal pad from 46c to 60c

but with new 19.00 hsf (avc) and AS2 I get 36c idle 44c full load...The 4000rpm fan versus 2700rpm of retail and the as2 help to keep that big swing down...

I have primed tested it for 12hours as steady, twice, on i845d mobo and asus p4s333 board...

New asus bios didn't give me any more ability, just the added memory ratio above 133fsb...

I have ran 2.5ghz (139fsb) stable at 1.7v for 6 hours prime95 (overnight), but felt the 4 percent increase wasn't worth the added worrying of the damage of the higher voltage...

what software monitor program is everyone using on the P4S333? I have noticed that the ASUS
probe (included with board software) works for fan RPMs, but it does not change on the CPU and system temps. What program works for Win98 and Win2k, especially the later?
The BIOS reads fine....but I need something to watch while I am stressing it...

It will show you CPU temps over 40C. It just won't go under 40C. I have the same board, it is stuck at 40, but when I run prime95 it gets up to about 53C. I think it's fine because if the temps are under 40C, i don't really care what they are.
