Norton AV 2002 sux

Anyone that is happy with your anti-virus software (other than Norton's) please let me know. I prefer one that does not have an integrated firewall lie MacAfee's.

What's the problem??? I'm running Norton 2002 and it's been working great.

The program will not finish installing. I uninstalled the 2001 program per the instructions prior to installing 2002. It all goes fine until the restart. The machine gets to the black DOS window where it says: .....windows continuing to load (with the white blinking cursor at the bottom left). After a few seconds the screen goes full black and the cursor continues to blink at the bottom instead of jumping to the top and continue the start process.

I have uninstalled all of the Symantec files from the Windows menu as well as removed any files from the registry. I even downloaded the program again and tried all the above again.

Symantec's tech support really sux. All they do is send you to their message boards where there are at least 50 pages of people having simular problems and still waiting 4 to 5 days for answers that don't work. (lotsa pissed off people in there).

I have always used Symantec's software feeling it was the best to be had. Not anymore. Their so-called "Personal Firewall" will let the klez virus go right past it. I have already found an excellent replacement for that one.

I know that someone on this board works for Symantec. I hope he or she takes this message to someone that can help put Symantec back on top as they were.

Sorry, don't know what to tell ya. I've never had that problem.

As far as klez goes, both nav 2000 (on my old machine) and nav 2002 catch klez in email scans on my machines. I must have had it sent to me about 20 times and it's caught it every time. I'm talking about anti-virus and not the firewall.

Well, I never had any problems with NAV 2002. It worked good for me.

I'm using AVG right now and I like it as much as NAV. Give it a shot. link

Thanks a lot for the concern as well as the input from all of you! I just downloaded the trial version of AVG Pro. I really like the email support they provide.

No reason? I was updating my 2001 to the 2002 version. No big deal now. AVG Pro installed flawlessly and the Norton stuff is all gone from my machine. The damn thing even boots faster.

I have Norton SystemWorks 2002 which includes AV 2002 and doesn't include the firewall. I dunno what you're complaining about. I love mine

YOU CAN install McAffee viruscan without the firewall...
Also Norton...

You can try some of the free Antivirus programs

norton works great for me. no problems with it. considering trying this AVG free though.
