$29.99 </a>

edit: link should work now.
I get spammed with a lot of these email offers. I'm not really sure what's good. Outside of music software, I'm kinda clueless.
But I did get a similar offer, I think, for the entire adobe suite for like something ridiculous like 50 bucks.
That kinda screams illegit to me.

This might not really be hot....lock it down if necessary.
just wanted to try to spark some software discussion. most deals posted are just hardware.

CompUSA had this for $10 after rebates (one upgrade, but you probably have something that qualifies) a few weeks ago (and possibly a second time as well). Why take your chances with a questionable mail order vendor when you can buy it locally? I will admit that $80 in rebates is not fun, but ordering from a place you don't know may not be, either.

This is actually a multiple re-post.

Having said that, I ordered from these folks around November 3rd, and finally received the CD Dec. 24th. The site said it would be three to four weeks before the order could be filled, and another three weeks for delivery. It seems they knew what they were talking about.

I never bothered to check on the status of my order, but many people did. Their cs is apparently not very good, but you got what they advertised - six to seven weeks total for order fulfillment and shipping time.

In any event, I was wondering why it would take so long to get to me once it was shipped? I found out why. They paid .18 cents postage for the mailing. This has to be the lowest possible price for mailing anything that the Post Office offers. Sort of like a "slow boat to China" type thingy.

At the time I ordered this, the price was $24.99 shipped, so the price has gone up $5 bucks.

I have no complaints with my order. It was exactly as advertised. So, reseller ratings or not - if I were interested in this CD and had the time to wait for it to arrive............I would go for it.

I assume with that little postage it was a bare OEM CD (well, in some sort of case), not eligable for any rebate?

Yes, you should get one year of virus updates (check the status screen, it will tell you when the subscription expires). You get lifetime updates for the rest of the program. The catch is that they basically stop updating the program after a year because there is a new version, and the only updates they continue to come out with are for really severe viruses, which they actually fix in the code (so everyone gets it) so the subscription is not an issue.

The hottest deal for me was when I got Norton AntiVirus 2002 for free (after MIR) with the TurboTax/Quicken package. By installing it with my almost expired updates for 2001 SystemWork 2001 Pro, it reenabled ALL the suite's Live Updates!

Of course, I am running Win2K . . . you will need 2002 for XP.

apoppin -- not to bust your hot deal, but the only thing in NSW which you only get the year of updates for is NAV. You continue to get updates for the rest of the package, but as I said, the catch is that since NSW 2002 is now released, they won't be coming out with any new updates for NSW 2001!

If you wanted it to be hot, you would have price matched NAV down to $39.96 from WalMart, and still gotten the $50 rebate back. It pays for the sales tax on the whole bundle.

<< 7 weeks for delivery?!?! Wow, that is some kinda business practice there. >>

If you shop merely on price, then you can't complain about poor customer service. I remember having this long discussion either here or on FW, about how sleazy this place seemed to be, since they're advertising free shipping on this product, while on the other products they say the product is free but charge some outlandish price for shipping.

The 9Software place that someone else posted claims to ship UPS (they certainly do charge for it as their default shipping choice) so I assume delivery will be much quicker. I think shipping was a little under $6 for UPS ground.

Recently I ordered a CD only Norton Systems work Pro 2002 from directdeals.com for about $25.00 after a coupon deal. It was delivered to me in less than 2 weeks. I had it up and running. Priced on site for about $35. Got it for $25 after a coupon deal.

If you search this forum, you may be able to locate the post that points to the thread about this offer from directdeal.

Another option is SoftwareCraze. They have Norton Systemworks Pro 2002 for $19.95 + $4.95 shipping = $25.

I ordered from them several weeks ago and got the software in about 2 weeks. If it wasn't Christmas season (when USPS is so busy, plus the Anthrax scare), I think I would have gotten it sooner. They have pretty good customer service. I got a reply promptly when I emailed them to check on shipping status.

They also have Norton Ghost 2002 for $14.95, if that's all you need.

I bought that Package from irewards For $24.00(maybe $29.00) about 7 weeks ago and it arrived just last week. So when they say 7 weeks for delivery you can believe them.

BTW, it's not an upgrade

From that WeBuildPCs.com site:

<< Live Updates for all programs for 3 months - FREE!! >>

This is very interesting, because it is what I would expect from a preloaded version -- just 3 months of virus updates. This is all I got with the NAV on the $285 Dell PC, and I was rather disappointed. Those of you who have purchased OEM versions, please do check again and see what your virus update expiration dates are.

In any event, the fact is that none of these deals are cheaper than what CompUSA has offered a couple of times, $10 after rebates (one of which is an upgrade but can be satisfied with any McAfee or Norton product).

I received the following from irewards tonight regarding my Systemworks 2002 Pro that I ordered in early November for $25.

Dear Free-iRewards Valued Customer,

Thank you for your email. Due to the enormous backlog we are currently experiencing, we wanted to send you this email to let you know we are doing all we can to respond to all your inquiries. We have tried to notify all our customers that we?ve had overwhelming response to our current promotions. This, combined with inquiries regarding the normal holiday rush and postal delays due to safety concerns, has flooded our normal processing systems, causing communication problems throughout. We ask for your patience during this time; I would like to assure you that we are working as quickly as possible to get to everyone who has phoned, faxed or emailed. We know your customer inquiry is important.

Most of the issues seem to stem from two or three problems. Although we like to answer each and every inquiry individually, usually within 24 hours, it has just not been possible with the volume of inquiries that have come in. We are currently behind by 20 to 30 days on all our 'open' tickets and have not had the opportunity to sift through all the 'pending' tickets where many customers' tickets stay because they do not include enough information when they return it to us. I have listed some of the most pressing questions and answers here in the hopes that your inquiry might be answered and your mind put at ease until we can answer each of you individually.

What is the status of Norton System Works?
If you ordered the Norton SystemWorks Professional Edition 2001 anytime before October 29, 2001, your order has been on backorder. All of those orders have now been shipped. According to our shipping times, you should already have received your order. The U. S. Post Office has been experiencing some delays. If you have not received your order and that is stated on your Customer Service Action Form, we will help you as quickly as possible when we answer your 'ticket'.
If you ordered the Norton SystemWorks Professional Edition 2002 available after October 29, 2001, those items were on backorder. We have tried to notify every customer about this situation and provide options. If you did not receive backorder information, we sincerely apologize for that and acknowledge that you must have great concerns about your order. All of the backorders for these products should have shipped.

As you can see, the most pressing issue stems from the incredible opportunity to purchase the Norton SystemWorks products. The response was overwhelming and frankly blew us away. We sold out quickly, but we were assured by our supplier that more were on the way. We soon discovered that the 2001 would not be available right away, but that the 2002 would. Soon, we found ourselves waiting again, this time for the 2002. We unexpectedly received more 2001. So, consequently, the 2001 have all been shipped and we have more 2001 in stock which are currently available again.

That left us waiting for the 2002, again. We thought it was still a great deal worth waiting for, however, we do understand your frustration. We are a bit frustrated as well around here. We really didn't expect the wait to be so long. The 2002 is now in our warehouse and we have been told, that except for the rare problem order, all of the backorders have been shipped.

Why is my order taking so long?
The number 1 reason for delays in shipping is a backorder situation. When that is the case, we try to notify our customers. In the case of an item, like the Norton SystemWorks above, when we are assured by the supplier that it is on the way, we may not notify the customer because we will try to use a quicker method of shipment to get the product to the customer within the time frame we give you when you order.

The number 2 reason for delays, is the U.S. Post Office. It has not always been the most reliable, however, in the past few weeks has understandably become a bit more unreliable. We receive returns here daily with their stamp that it was undeliverable for some reason or another. When we contact the customer, the reason is not valid. We are working with the U.S. Post Office and other carriers to try and remedy these problems. The recent safety concerns and the holiday rush only aggravate the matter.

The number 3 reason for consumer complaints is not allowing enough time for delivery. Although we do state delivery time on the order page, some customers in the rush to take advantage of a great deal miss this information. As stated, 'Standard' shipping is 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the courier and your area.

We know this sounds like a long time but, it is part of the reason that we can offer such great opportunity buys on our products! (To get the products to you at the lowest cost, we have special programs with the USPS and other shipping partners. Because of this, delivery tends to be slower than more expensive express services, especially during holidays and special promotions.) We do offer shipping upgrades at most times, however, not knowing the exact date of delivery of the Norton products to our warehouse prompted us to remove the 'Rush' and 'Priority' shipping options from our site for a period of time.

I ordered the Christmas Lego Offer and it hasn't arrived. Will it get here by Christmas?
If you placed your order with 'standard' shipping, please refer to the information above under "Why is my order taking so long?'.
Unfortunately, if you placed the order with 'standard' shipping, it probably will not arrive in time for gift giving. If you ordered with 'Rush' or 'Priority' shipping, we are doing our best to pack and ship within the specified time frames. Again, please remember that we cannot offer any guarantee against shipping courier delays.

Why didn't I receive an order confirmation?
Every order receives an automatic email confirmation. Your email to Customer Support receives an AutoResponse and when we ship your order, you receive an automatic shipping confirmation. However, We are finding that there are some IP addresses that treat our communications as junk mail and block our replies to you. There are also quite a few email addresses that are entered wrong or one of many that a customer uses. Some customers forget which one they use and don't check their emails often.

We hope this email has been able to answer at least some of your questions. We do regret that we must respond with a form letter until we can get to your 'ticket' and respond to you personally. We know it has been frustrating, for you, our customer. We do appreciate your patience, and I assure you we have not forgotten you. Please remember, every time you respond to your ?ticket?, it updates it in our system which in effect moves you to the end of the line. If you are patient, we actually will get to you sooner.

Sincerely,

Kathy Jones
Customer Support Manager

BTW, regarding the updates, I'm not sure why, but I installed norton system works 2000 on my Grandma's computer to take care of that new badtrans virus that came out.

After I installed it (actually I just installed the NAV portion straight from the NAV directory on the CD, contrary to the readme advice. The readme specifically said not to install from seperate folders. I only wanted the NAV part, so I did it and it worked. heheh), I ran the liveupdate thing, it updated itself and found the virus.

I never entered any cd code or anything. She had bought it a couple years ago but had never really installed it. So, you might get lucky and get more than a year out of it... I'm thinking it tracks the day you install perhaps with an entry in the registry. Heck after a year you'll probably reinstall windows... who knows you might get more updates

Devistater - not sure why you'd be surprised that it updated the viruses with the current versions. You get a year from the install date.

Yo2 - I think the one year stuff is all part of standard product information stuff. I got the feeling that the 3 months thing overrode it. But you'll see what it comes out to when you get the program, I guess.

Actually this is a GREAT DEAL:

Got the software today via fedex ground ($7.21 for 5 disks, 5 mice and a tube of arctic silver) took them 2 days total (from IN to NJ)- GREAT outfit

The software is in fact NSW PRO which includes Ghost 2002 (which by itself is a great tool).

I just installed one disc and the SUBSCRIPTION IS FOR 366 DAYS - just as I had hoped.

Fibnally the supplied mice are basic two button mice without a scroll wheel or any extras, but they work very nicely on my laptop
