Norton Systemworks 2003 $9.00 + Free S&H

Does anybody know if you can install JUST Norton Anti-Virus from the SystemWorks CDROM?

You could do that with NSW 2002 and before, but I heard you couldn't with NSW 2003. Personally, I just install NAV rather than a whole CD of bloatware, and run WinDoctor or DiskDoctor from the CDROM if needed.

Yes, I believe you can. As I recall, select that your are going to do a complete install. The next screen will take you to a explorer style interface where you can deselect programs you wish to not have installed.

I actually did just the opposite. I installed everything but Antivirus 2003 because I have the 2002 version running already. I have read the AV 2003 conflicts with Ghost -even though both are on the same disc and program. All the bloatware seems to be fairly stable and most of it is useful to some degree. Can't beat it all for a mere $9.

Yeah, sure. Choose the bottom option (I think). I forget what it's called, "complete" maybe. It is not intuitively obvious by how it is labelled. From here, you pick and choose what you want. I agree, using the default install is not the smoothest way to go for a few reasons.

Edit: Maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had a problem with 2003 NAV vs. 2003 Ghost.

You can uninstall NSW 2003 and install a new NSW 2003 to get another 1 yr subscription for NAV. Be sure to delete all entries referring to Norton or Symantec in the registry and it will work!! I just did it yesterday!!

I purchased this about a week ago. It arrived fast. However when I tried to install just NAV from the nav folder I received an "Norton has encountered an internal error, please uninstall and reinstall" error. After 3 tries and looking around the web I decieded "Screw this POS I'll stick with 2002" I gave it to a customer for free. He installed it with the whole Norton System Works and it was fine. However after uninstalling all the other "Crap" that comes on that disk, NAV no longer worked. Why doesn't Symantec offer a "Custom" install package where you can select which features you want?
