Norton Systemworks Premiere

I just bought systemworks over blackfriday and most of the software is trash..... Norton antivirus (included here) is pretty good but the whole package has not been revamped for the past 4 years or so.....

This version has norton ghost on it, which if anyone has ever used is probably one of the nicest tools of this kind they've used.....

Also, when i bought the similiar package and sent in for the upgrade, i used the OEM copy of NAV that I got wiht a gigabyte mobo and they accepeted it. For all the thread crapping around here about symantec rebates they have been one of the fastest for me - few of the other rebates like western digital haven't come in that were mailed at the same time.


For FAR you get Norton AV with 1 year updates and Ghost... which is a pretty good deal...

The Symantec rebates come incredibly quickly nowadays. I got the last four within three weeks in February. The software is totally worth it for FAR.

Heads up! The version of ghost included is version 9.0 which is FAR FAR differant than past versions. In fact if you buy ghost in retail package they actually include the previous version of ghost on a separate cd! lol
And its a good thing. If they hadn't included that older version in the retail ghost package I would have insisted upon being able to return it.

I have no idea if premier has both versions of ghost but I doubt it.
First off, it ONLY works in windows (and ONLY on windows 2000, XP, NO win 9x/me). No more dos. Basically symantec bought out another vendor who made a imaging program called DRIVE IMAGE that was pure windows based and changed ghost to them. Second it is some really whack stuff, I installed it and started having blue screens on every shutdown.
So basically, if the computer has issues and you want to backup, you may not be able to do it anymore if you cant boot to windows. If you want to make a backup without touching the hdd, kinda hard to do that anymore.

For some people, maybe this is better now since its easier to use, but for me and many people who use ghost like its been used for a long long time, its now much harder to use it in the way we've used it before.
So if you are getting this for ghost just be aware of what you are getting. If you are fine with it, thats fine, but dont buy it for ghost unless you know specifically you dont mind getting the new windows only version.

Norton cheated me out of an upgrade rebate. I sent in the cd from a previous retail version of norton systemworks and they said that I hadn't included it. Fuckers.
